Regarding re**.com Notice
Date : 3/27/2007
inquiry : 89
Recently many of players got nervous about outflowing information and hacking damage of re**.com because some players' character, items were searched in that website.
Please feel reassured because we've investigated re**.com and results are listed below.
(Name is written in special mark to avoid players from clicking)
[Result of Investigation]
1. Corresponding website is not a hacking site of Silkroadonline Server but it is a scanning site of players PC. (It can not hack our server but it can scan your pc)
2. To scan your pc, re**.com uses the information of visitation of their site, registering, and a virus program that can be installed automatically when using bot program.
3. The information range that can be scanned is only a simple information that can be shown at the website. Your important information is secured.
4. For your security, please do not visit re**.com and run a virus checking program at least once a week and never use bot programs.

Thats the way they found out peoples levels and by knowledge. They would set a level 1 character in each city and let it stay there for days and accept incoming parties applied by botters and check their levels. They would also walk around Takla and the grind spots looking for botters and assesing their wepoins+levels. They got most of their info on gear from PvP and asking people to stall their junk. They got my friends stall character in hotan(level 72) and none of his main level 80's. thats because he doesnt pvp or use a PT...
And when the re*6 list was first being assembled they asked people for their info and you could also sent them information but later on they closed it and made it more private.....
wrong. rev6 made a bot. called "RevBot" but they stopped. and if its the auto PT invite thing, why am i not on the site? ive been on there 3-4times. and lvl 35 now with SOS armour and y et im not there.
i dont know how they do it but what JM says sounds reasonable.

I thought everyone here was well informed about http://www.rev6.com
What they do is quite simple.
They have a bot that you can download and run, They tell you to use a level 1 char with not items etc because they do not want ppl thinking they are giong to hack their accounts etc.
THIS BOT IS PURELY FOR RECORDING PLAYERS ITEM DETAILS AND LEVEL.
Then they place the bot in a town, hotan donwhang or Jangan... whatever.
When a player comes into sight range of the level 1 bot the packet information is scanned by the bot and it can determine what items the player is wearing.
If the players highest item he is wearing is a level 75 hat then they "ASSUME" the player is level 75.
Therefor if a player was to wear full sosun 8th degree then they would assume he is actually level 69 even though he could be level 80 or whatever. (remember all sosun 8th gear is between 64-69).
It is a very simple idea and quite funny that JM do not supply a "Top 100" list or so but Joe Average can come along and whack something like this together.
Anyway go to that site or not it is up to you but don't be fooled by JM's scare tactics that you will get a virus... that is absurd.

information of user is only be captured when the ladder bot is present. I have a high lvl char, but because i rarely use it so it didnt appear in ladder list. It sounds crazy when they say "it scans your pc...."
99% of hack is due to lack of user's security : botting, visit bad site, leak information about name and email (yes, with these 2, u can hack)...

I'm running NoScript on firefox btw.
Its not the website that JM is complaining about, its the ladder bot.
The website is clean.

friend of mine is running this bot
i did not download it just because when i cant grind i stall (need all the gold i can get to be able to play normally)
never heard any wrong comment from anyone who downloaded it from rev6
people are probably patching it and adding keyloggers.
i kinda find this as a silly payback for the forumnamehack baloq created
i am still wondering if he was behind that message on the main site or not
it is not really important anyway just still want to know who was behind that message.
maybe Joymax is trying to stop people from going to the ladder just because they are giving crucial information on how easy stuff can be done in silkroad
rev6 is practically showing people how lazy Joymax has been the past years on this problem.
i guess this will work otherwise, more people will visit the site now
this is free advertisement for rev6

Wow leviathan or w/e your name is, you sure dont know shit about hackin do you? If they can gather packets from the game and have enough knowledge they can get your username and password, thats how a friend of mine already hacked 1 botter in sro. I wasnt involved but, I knew of it. So ya packet sniffers = fast way to hack someone "IF" you know wtf you are doing. Hope this clears stuff up.
. Oh, and chars like Bullet, Jamoca, and a few others on xian were owned via this method. GG.

You don't know anything about network security.
What JM is saying here, is that the website gathers player data via a virus program. Which would imply, if a player has never downloaded anything from them, that merely visiting the site will cause this infection. Which is 100% false.
This client ONLY SNIFFS THE DATA THE SERVER SENT TO IT. That is how they obtain this info. NO, it is NOT the same as a packet sniffer on YOUR network, because if billy in korea is running this software, how the hell is it sniffing YOUR network in Georgia? It isn't. It is doing the same thing the client is, and that is reading the packet data being sent from the server. If you are alarmed about this, well that info has ALWAYS been available, it is nothing new, and Soda's post is 100% accurate.

while I concur on some of your statements, my friend did hack someone this way, it was awhile back just before sro was out of alpha stage. So dont tell me you cant gather data from a packet. Because it was done. Just like noobs say you cant dupe items in sro. I caught a ..... duping Pandora Boxes in xian during the event and he was banned almost the next inspection. So please before you try to tell me I know nothing, I have seen how its done first hand. (To those who believe he wasnt duping, he filled up his stall 10x10 with pandora boxes almost 50 times. Do the math thats 100 per stall, so that 500 pandora boxes, Now he filled it 50 times until he was banned who knows how much more he was gonna put in stall if he wasnt banned.)

well because 10x10x50= 500
sorry but that made me laugh
why would someone dupe pandora boxes to get gold anyway? why not just dupe sos items instead or dupe gold guess if you can dupe 1 item you could do it with anything right?
why did Joymax not rollback the server and fix this bug it is messed up when someone finds a glitch to dupe an item and joymax only bans him
of course that person cant make a new account and do it all again

English isnt your first language is it???? I said and and quote "banned almost the next inspection" meaning he was banned the next inspection period, when I say almost I'm just emphasizing the fact that he was banned so swiftly is all. So before you go rephrasing my words please look into their meaning first.

Right, each time a player meets another player, the game client receives a player name, guild, emblem info, x-y where u meet him, direction and action (including buffs), bunch of other info perhaps and lastly the gear-info that your client needs to know in order to graphically show that other player in your screen.
The re**.com program just records the gear-info part against the player names.
I really don't see why there is a hacking involved.
Before we start to doubt of some hacking here and there, just try to breakdown the process of how something works before concluding anything.
This is PURE BULLSH*T.
I DO believe in NyMbLe being able to scan out whole town areas with his packet bot as he has proven his skills with his auto-hunting bots before.
If it really scanned YOUR PC, there would be a) only players using the bot b) the exact player level, not only the one guessed by your equipment (if it's on your comp, why not read out the real player level?!) c) it would be updated / could be updated each time you log-on, and not every several days for all the players, as it happens now.
There are friends of mine on that list who had never heard of that site or the bots it contains / contained or anything, which proves that that "your own comp" argument is out of thin air.
About that virulent thingy ... some ppl I met on Alexander told me that their scanners scanned positive for the site's cookies as there should be a worm in one of them ... I scanned with the same scanner and the same definitions and found ZERO, NOTHING, NADA, NIENTE...
My conclusion is that Joymax just can't stand that their system is pretty easy to analyze (which could easily lead to security leaks, as seen before
) and try to make them the bad boys.
This is not very professional and I hope for an anti-statement / comment by NyMbLe the next days.
He might do scary works for most of the people, but he has shown that he has skills and that Bot-Hunting is easy as hell as well.
Just my 2,1355 Cents.

wow..... people like you is what makes me want the SRF elite members forum BAD
What JM said is possible, but accurate?
Maybe rev gave us diss information, maybe not. But I know something about what they do didnt make sense to how people were saying it worked.
I am not on their though, but I am not high lvl, so maybe its only ppl way up there.

If you go on their site, you can read how they get the info... I mean they explained it, no reason to talk about it >.<
They have a lvl 1 bot in Hotan sitting behind the potion guys building and picking up info of all players that come there by scanning their gear! That is why no one on the list is over lvl 77. All the lower lvls are there, because they have visited Hotan and bought X-Large pots for Hunting/Thieving/Pvp or similar. So if you never came to the potion shop you will not be on the list.
