SOS Items

Post by jichiong »

Hi,

i see players stalling SOS swords (not pimped, no blues) lvl 32, with decent ratings (sorry, wasn't able to screenshot it) for around 5m to 8m. do u think these are decent prices? :?

im lvl 36 and thinking of buying one (my first sos if ever) but im also thinking of looking for lvl 38-42 swords.

in short, i want to know if the lvl32 are good buys and what are the good prices for sos lvl38-42?

Your thoughts?

if you planning on going far in the game wouldn't spend you gold on that sos unless you are planning on pimping it out and selling for a profit

If he was planning on going far in the game, he wouldn't be a hybrid strength.

Is it really that bad?? :(

Lvl 35 = Str 122/Int 88 (naked)
Phy balance = 81%
Mgc balance = 52%

Any suggestion where i can continue using this character and be decent in the long run?

Well, save your money and have a good gear later on.

But the price is right for the SoS swords.

First off, if you like your char, then it doesn't matter. Keep playing and having fun and it's no big deal.

That being said, the str hybrid build is the weakest in the game. There are valid arguments for pure str, pure int, int hybrids and even pure hybrid builds. There isn't a good argument for a str hybrid. The two blade building guides say this:

Fly: "When it comes to you[r] stat points, NEVER put points into int...Put all points into str. This is a must."

Cuchulainn: "Pure Strength is generally the way to go if you want to use blade as your weapon."

As long as you have enough MP to cast your buffs (which you will), you don't need any more int. A blader's damage is maximized with str. Adding to int dilutes the damage you can deal.

If you keep your char, you will want to stick to PvE. If you PvP or job, you will have a tough time against pretty much any build your same level and even a few levels below you.

i was hoping to do jobs later on in the game so any suggestion how to "fix" my character? This is my first character and i tried to keep balance between int and str in the earlier levels, then i read that for blades, better go str based, hence i kept adding str til now.

coz if this build will suck later on, then im not that sure i want to invest more time building it up. might as well start all over again. :banghead:

I was thinking of going full int from now on and add nukes, i can probly make close to 1:1 in late stages of the game. :?

All I can tell you is what I would do, and that is make a new char. If you don't, you will always be playing catch-up to the other builds at your level. I'm on my second char and, while I liked my first, after getting a feel for the game through 3x levels, I figured out the build I wanted and reflected my style of play. I now have the build that I'll keep. Some people experiment with many chars to find the one they like.

If you are going to get frustrated with the limitations of a weak build that will play below your level for quite a while, then I think you should make a new char. It doesn't take very long to get back to 3x...you'll be amazed at how much faster it is the second time. And you won't be second guessing yourself at 40 or 50, when you REALLY don't want to abandon your char.

tnx, i think i simply build a new character, go pure int this time and glave. now i am not sure about the server, im currently in red sea, so far, its that bad, and i don't have any trouble logging in (probably becoz i play NY time) but, i wonder if other servers are better. any suggestion??

Except that glaive is a str weapon. If you have a pure int build, in order to maximize damage, you want to use a spear or a sword.

Blade/Glaive = Strength
Sword/Spear = Int
Bow = either (but most do str)

dude you can still use this char but as the others say its better to start over again and thats a lot more fun too... i have a 24 char int hybrid but read about how to distribute stat points around level 13 -.- so i also had a bit of a screwed up char. I started over again and its a lot more fun now. if i get bored on my new char or if i need money i just go grind with my 2x char..

truly its a lot more fun with a build that works. :)

pick a weapon and check out the build guides. there are a lot fun builds to chose from and most of em work fine :)

that was totally unrelated to the original post as he's looking for swords...

@ jichiong : there is no such thing as a sos 38 weapon. SOS only exists for the first weapon level in the degree... so lvl 1, 8, 16, 24, 32, 42, 52, 64 (and 76 when the 9th degree update comes) as for how much a 42 sos sword goes for, in greece they're about 15-25mil depending on how pimped up they are.

and i also agree on you restarting a new char. you'll have more money to pimp out your char at lvl 24 and 32 with sos weapons, so you'll probably enjoy playing it moreso than your current lvl 35 char
