Yup you have to pay for one. Im pretty sure there are tons u can just go in and people wont even care. So just use someone elses lol

Old version of vent you can run one for free from your comp.

If you don't have your own credit card, your gonna need to get your parent's permission to use theirs so you can rent a vent server from various sites like;

http://www.typefrag.com/

If you don't have access to a credit card You can get a free server by hosting it on your own computer, problem with that is it will only be up when your computer is on, It will have extremely horrible voice quality, will lag like hell for anyone who does not live with 5 feet of you, and will have a 8 slot limit.

They have very good voice quality. On my friends who lives in Canada, i live in England i have perfect quality and no lag what so ever.

He says if you run it from your own comp because you can't have the good quality settings and unless he has a high upload speed it will lag.

goto http://www.ventrilo.com/download and download the server version.

From there just read the 'read me' file and its pritty much self explanatory.

@MixMax, I found out he runs it on a separate computer with no other programs installed so that is why it would run so nice i guess.

The latest ventrilo still offers a free 8 person server. If you go through a router for your internet connection have fun! Took me nearly an entire day to figure it all out but once you find the info on ventrilo forums its pretty basic step by step.

I have a decent comp, not the best and use a router and downloaded/configured vent server myself. No problems whatsoever with quality or lag issues and I often run it with a few other programs going. So don't be discouraged to try it. And if you get stuck on something and need help let me know.. I have some experience with it. Good luck
