SRO on a DVD

Post by Supra »

i work at a computer lab doing nothing for 4 hrs a day. these computers have thawspace(?) which will not let me install stuff. i can download stuff to the computer. i tried to install sro on it and ofcourse, i don have the rites to do so. but when i direct the files to the desktop it starts installing. after a while it stops and says cannot set up file in directory or something like that.

anybody know a way around this??

or how about running sro off of a dvd, i heard that it is possible, but how does it work with the system directory. any help on this matter as well??

any help would be appreciated. thanks

How about an external harddisc?

I don't really know how it works, but the computers at my school have the same 'security', we can't intall anything either. However, with a harddisc they are all able to play their beloved World of Warcraft.

I used my psp with 2gb memory. I took it to internet cafe where they don't let games install. I plugged in my psp ran the installer and voila! worked ;)

Can't be that expensive. Besides you get to play SRO on your work, must be worth it LOL.

Just install the game on an external harddisc. I just checked the size of my complete SRO folder (which includes 93471047190471 screenshots) and it's still less than 1,5 GB. :)

Im not sure but i think it has to work with thawspace. I have never workd with thawspace but i know how it works. A extern HD wont work because you need to install de drivers and USB services has to be running. And you dont got the premission for that. So what you need to do is:
Take your folder from you own pc, (c:\program files\silkroad\) copy it, make it a RAR or something. Put it on the internt (rapidshare enc) put it on your thawspace (T: ) and run it. Its the only solution.

ps: What you can do is go to your administrator for rights to right on the C:\. ^^ That would be the perfect solution. Else go and work :)

I have it installed on my 4GB usb drive and it runs fine. Btw my comps run DeepFreeze lol. Anyway, it takes slightly longer to draw all the skins on ppl in town at first login cuz it has to read them off the USB drive at 1/3-1/4 hard drive speed but it's all good. U only need 2 GB to fit the install on there though and those are about $25 but I'd HIGHLY suggest using my 4GB model:
