Friend's Account Haxor3d, but we can't change password O.o

A friend (and guildie) recently had his account hacked, account stripped bare, and dumped like a defenseless litter of kittens

Anyways, it was a low level character and looks like the hacker has moved on to happter hunting grounds and so we have a long guild chat about password strength, nd now we want to change the password.

No probs, says I but I was wrong.

I've changed PW many times, so couldn't see my guildy's confusion, until he sends me the PW and ID to check for myself.

Yes, we go (using IE) to Official Site to the Forget Your PW or ID page and we input his ID and Emaill Address, but are told we need a minimum of 6 digit ID.

This is the weird bit !!

I test his ID to log into his game character, it works, I'm in and playing BUT it is only 5 digits long.

I cannot log into silkroad.net at all, getting the prompt that I must have at least 6 digits.

I'm bamboozled.

He wants to keep his account but it's obviously pointless as we can't change the password.

Any other options, to the dreaded one of sending a Bug Report to the Lords of SRO??

he probbably registered that account during alpha,
which allowed short ID, spaces in secret answer etc.

i think u can bypass that by disabling javascript.

Disabling java doesn't do it, still can't log in to Official site or change password.

Dude i had a similar problem back at end of summer break after my 2 month long vaca from SRO it wasnt hacked but the fact was is i tried to even use the recovery to get my old account back but they only give you bits and pieces because in korea nobody forgets their pass or username (idk lucky guess?) so i just got mad and sent a crap load of emails, bug reports, etc. still nothing 4 months later. So created new account and now making a movie!
