Need ideas to make SRO better (logging on)

I was thinking about an ideal because right now I can't log on. Hehe

What if?? (yes I know this isn't going to happen) For a small monthly fee and they would move your toon to the server. This server would have events monthly, and its own GM to police any bots?

I would pay for it.

I already pay for SRO just I can't log on half the time and the othere half fighting bots. But hay I still love SRO!

Two scenarios that would make me pay for Silkroad:


A.) The game is in a "completed state". Meaning that all areas of the game are in their final release, the only updates would be minor patches, GUI addons etc. This also includes no major server traffic... no "???" error, no dropping from game on disconnect. Etc. 99% of all botters would be banned. Only then, would I go to the store, purchase this game, and be willing to pay a monthly fee. *Edit* I'd also like to see more end-game stuff. Raids, party quests, more events, better PVP options.


B.) The game is free monthly, free to download, but you pay for extras. This is the way it is now... the game is not complete, is full of botters/lag/ccf'ers, and is getting worse each week. The item mall, to me, makes up for some of the bad stuff.




Unfortunately, I don't see this game ever reaching the point of paragraph A. Unless they make some drastic changes, people will start leaving this game for others before it is ever finished. This game is all based on your gear. SOS just flat out dominates, and the fact people CCF and get all SOS gear makes it less desirable for people without SOS to play. I kinda wish they'd do away with SOS altogether, except I like how it looks

Only under Colb's conditions (A), would I EVER pay 4 SRO, no monthly fee though cuz I could play any other game with better grafics if I would ever pay 4 a game.

Anyways...due Colb's conlcusion point A) is not in near future and might never happen (and that's pretty sad actually cuz the game aint that bad... )

When they ban bots,fix the ??? error,fix the blackouts,fix lag,enlarge the servers so people can log in on their 1st try,secure accounts from being hacked ill pay for it.

I would pay for it now IF they include g.ticket and monkey w/subscription, or some similiar contribution. Otherwise, I'd nvr pay said price and have to pay for the "necessary" extra's.

Yes.
P2P games generally have better support. In a way, this game is p2p but its indirect. People can choose to pay, silk is like a donation.
I used to pay 60 bux for 6months on iRO. The GM support was great, updates came fast and the rules were very strict. This game lacks that authroity.

If it was a premium game, the servers would be a tad less populated and there would be no stupid "crowded" errors.

I have invested in a monkey and intend to continually renew it so long as I am able to use it. If I don't have a slot reserved for me, I can't play during peak-times, and that monkey timer counts downwards regardless.

It's cool that the game is free, but those who "donate" should get priority access (a reserved slot) over those who don't, we're helping pay for the hardware and the bandwidth so we shouldn't have to wait for someone who doesn't to log off.

The idea of kicking someone who doesn't pay to make room for someone who does is harsh, and I know that I upset someone with the mere mention of that idea, but $5 per month is pocket change in exchange for a slot and a guaranteed connection, and the more people who do it, the more hardware/bandwidth Joymax will be able to purchase so other's don't have to.

I wonder if Joymax'es GM's ever get "server is full" errors.

I already pay for silkroad. And a lot.
Just give a look at your silk history if you use it and compare to the cost of WoW if you played the same time.
In my case, and I know many people like me, playing WoW would actually cost me less money.

And yes, unbearable lag and cheats doesn't makes me happy. I still got hope... but maybe not for long.

That would be cool a "donate" system. If you had put money into SRO in the last month your spot would be saved. The left over spots would be for those who don't haven't paid anything.

That would drive sales up, also that would keep the multi botting accounts down some what. Also that woud be fair to us who pay money to play SRO. (getting ready for the flames of paying for a game)

This would also keep the server pop up too. Everyone who knows the biggest problem with most MMO is that low server pop always = death of a game.

I'd be willing to pay ONCE, like you do with other games; buy them in stores and then play for "free". But only if they would solve the connection problems, fix the botter problems, etc etc...

Hmmm....I think alot of us here already pay monthly (well korean months-28days) fees, Those little golden tickets to get that double exp, sp 130 Silk = basically $15 : Clocks to refresh those squirrels and monkeys 48 Silk = $5(I know its a choice, but it's a choice we make the same as to play P2P games). I'm not even going to mention astrals, immortals scrolls etc. The game is at its worst now with Bots, CCFer's and what not. As...I think about this while I'm typing, I'm getting rather pissed knowing that I have spent quite a bit of money on the game and I along with others has, have and will have to continue to put up with all that is going on hoping there will be "gold at the end of the rainbow" for our continued loyality to this game. I feel this game has so much potential and upside. But to continue to be told to ignore previously mentioned above to just "Deal with it" cause there is nothing that can be done about it at this time is ridiculous!

WTF if noone speaks up and complains about what is wrong with the game, how does the game problems and concern get resolved?

So im liking the ideal that everyone who pays already something each month has a locked number into the server. That means you can log on during peak hours get to play! Also the left over spots those who don't pay can still play but will have a harder time doing so. This means they will end up spending money so they don't have to fight the rest or bots for a spot on the server. Yes this means if your spot is saved, the person who doesn't pay will not be able to log over your spot. But your spot is only held for a month after your spend money. Each time you spend money your spot is re-uped for 28 more days. This will make SRO more money and those who pay money will be able to enjoy the game we love.

Im out with the ideal of pay to play, because we alredy do pay. Im pitching ideals because I like to get a friend of mine whos good with writing letters of this kind in the hopes of SRO reading it and changing the game.

I think they are starting to make a move into a positive direction. They have a posting for GM positions. Hopefully with more GM in games more bots and other cheats can be caught and blocked and banned. I'm not trying to shoot down anyones ideas but to conserve spots for players such as VIP sounds a little over board. I know lots of players that are fun to play with whom are legitimate players that don't use the item mall. To limit the game to just players that spend money wouldn't work but that's my opinon. The main problem and concern that needs all it's attention is "Bots". Gold Farmers, Sp Farmers, PowerLevelers, Bots period. They are the recent cause for the server traffic. Everywhere you go you see bots whether its a player using it to farm sp, to level or these companys that use it for gold farming. If JM comes up with better way to block these cheats, hacks, exploits, glitches or whatever you want to call it, I feel that would resolve alot of the traffic.

You seem like you want to step forward and do something about the problems with SRO, why not apply for the GM position? That would be the first step in to speaking with JM giving them what you see first hand and helping SRO rid itself of these problems.

Yesterday I was unnerved by five players in one area that had numbers for names. I didn't watch them closely enough to say whether they were botting or not, but I would imagine that's what a hack would look like that generated multiple accounts randomly to farm for gold. (Botnet, I suppose would be the accurate term).


I wasn't suggesting monthly payments of $15-20 dollars so much as perhaps $5 (or more, if the user wants other premium items as well) per month, $5 per year, or $5 period to guarantee a slot over those who download the client and play for free. It's a great idea that everyone can play the game for free, but realistically the numbers are growing faster than servers are being put up to handle them, and those who invest into the game should get to use their premium items any time they want.

That way, those who say "Why pay for a free game" probably won't see too much of a problem with investing literally pocket-change to guarantee a slot, while those who are cheap and don't truly appreciate the game for being free in the first place can compete for slots and be booted when all slots are full and a premium user (who I must iterate; is contributing keeping the servers up in the first place, essentially paying for the free-users free-ride) needs to connect.

The only problem I see with that (particularly the latter two options), is if there is a sudden spike in the amount of players and Joymax can't pop up more servers, then users playing for free won't be able to connect/will be booted, and premium users will be competing for open slots. That's probably not too big of a problem, though, since some players are "addicted" to premium items (My name is Xavarus and I'm a monkeyholic) so servers should keep popping up as needed.


Also, when you buy global chats, the price should skyrocket exponentially, then gradually drop to normal over time (two weeks or so, depending on how many you buy). That should allow for honest people who want to advertise guilds or find a rare weapon to do so inexpensively, while discouraging chat-spammers/power-leveling ads/random BS, while at the same time making Joymax an exponentially rising amount of cash from power-leveling servers that can afford and choose to advertise excessively anyway (just to eventually be banned once they've wasted their money).

Only problem with that, is the bots aren't necessarily on the same account/computer/ip

Personally, I think Global Chat is a feature that should be exclusive to Joymax GM's, but whatever makes them money to keep the servers up...
