How do I come out of the closet?

Okay so I've been secretly a vegan for a year! I've tried to force myself not to be vegan several time but I can't.. It's just something in me that I can't change..... How can I tell my family and friends and make them accept me as a vegan?!? Any advice is much appreciated!

For some cultures it would be Taboo not to eat meat is what he means. Say in a hispanic family if someone said they were vegan it would be just as "bad" as telling them you were gay, as your family would assume it was a side effect of being gay.

I think the best course of action is to burst out of that closet loud and proud. The time is ripe and they're allowing gay marriage in a lot of states here in the US now so if you have a life partner and want to get married, you have the right to do so. Congratulations! :yay:

Vegans exclude eggs and dairy products from their diets, which means they can't even eat bread. It probably limits their food options to something like 10% of the available stuff. Unlike vegetarians, this isn't even a healthy lifestyle. Vegeterians already lack metals, so vegans certainly have more issues when they have so little choice in foods.

in french there's a difference between simple vegetarian (no meat might be ok fish) and hardcore vegetalian (no meat no fish no milk no eggs nothing that come from an animal)

Any reasonable parent would be OK with this as long as he's not going on some hunger strike to end his life...But I see your point from the parent's perspective...they might start to worry about his diet...or wonder what else he'll hit them up with that's also controversial....But it seems from his perspective he cares about his family and wouldn't wan't to do anything to hurt them....So there seems to be no basis for worries.......At the very least some research on the part of his parents can quell most worries...

Can I just say I've been vegan for the last 3 year, vegetarian since I was 13...

A pescetarians is someone that only eats fish
A vegetarian is someone that doesn't eat meat, including gelatine
A vegan is someone that doesn't eat, meat, eggs and dairy

As well as excluding foods from our diet, we also don't wear any dead animals, fur, leather and suede. Vegans also don't wear, wool silk and angora.

Not sure who said vegans don't eat bread, I eat bread, there is no dairy or eggs in bread. I also eat, cake chocolate and even ice cream.
