hmm Greatest Bow build??

Hey im making a new bow For mostly PVE and maybe a little bit of PvP its mostly to gain honor points from academy and hunt for So* gear lol. whats best at damage and quick killing?
70:70 Bow Fire Light for half phy and half mag then fire phy attak buff and light mag attk buff
STR Bow Fire Light so then the fire phy gives more phy damage and i have more hp

And can somebody leave how do you actually build hybrid 70:70 bow?

From a damage perspective full int > 70:70 > full str.

Question remains if you want to give up the HP to get that extra damage. If I remember correctly, 70:70 balance gives you a 2:3 stat distribution between STR and INT (so of every 3 points you get per level, 1 point goes to STR and 2 to INT, since you automatically get 1 added to STR and INT each level). This will give the following HP results (approximately):
naked full INT: 100%
equipped full INT: 135% (full blues)
naked 70:70: 200%
equipped 70:70: 235% (full blues)
naked full STR: 500%
equipped full STR: 535% (full blues)
Let's be clear: a full INT doesn't come close to dealing 4-5x the damage of a full STR.

so pretty much every level its 1 str 2 int? and that will give u max damage in the end? more damage than a pure str? and im guessing for that build Bow Fire Light is the best option lol

that works, just take off all the gear, hit C and look for the phys/mag balance stats, when it's like 69/70 or 70/69 that's as close as you'll get.

overall dmg slightly higher, less crits as far as I know.

less? how is it less if crits are based off of skills and weapon but stats dont give a chance for crits anyways? wouldnt the only thing the extra int increase in damage is your imbue? how would it affect crits :O

Crit's are based off of your physical attack damage (pretty much your regular physical attack multiplied by 2). Pure STRs will crit higher since they have a higher base physical damage.

That's the theory, but in practice the difference between magical and physical damage is such that a full int may still crit higher. I've done some checks using the damage formulas elsewhere on this forum.

If I remember correctly, the damage will be 2xphy + mag. Since mag damage for a full INT is so high, it still outweighs the 2xphy damage of a full STR. As said before: the question is: how much hp are you willing to give up for that extra damage?

But heres the thing. why would you not be willing to give up a little bit of HP if it means killing things faster. so in turn that means lets say 10k hp hitting 5-7k and then with 70:70 you have 6.5k hp hitting 10k sure u give up HP but you will kill before they can do too much damage to you (this is all made up not based off of actual calculations)

The main reason? PvP of course. Against mobs it really doesn't matter that much, but in PvP that extra HP really comes in handy. If you can deal 70% of the damage, and have 5 times the HP, you can imagine that this is not a bad deal when it comes to PvP.

well yes, but if your a range character than the Damage comes out to a greater price. then you can kill before they get to you or kill them before they do too much damage

That's provided you can keep them away, and don't spend your PvP time looking up at the sky after the 10th knockdown.

I've tested this (given waaaay back in 80 cap, pre-euro) with a pure INT and pure STR (blader and s/s) using the exact same gears for each character, and the pure STR would always crit higher. I cannot say this has consistently remained the same throughout the caps till now, but it seems as such.

Pure INTs and Hybrids will have a higher overall consistent damage for their attacks than pure STRs, but the pure STR will have higher crits [this is when both parties have exactly the same gear).

In the new pservers I made both, a pure int (pach/light/ice) and a pure str(pach/fire/cold)

The pure int strong bow was about equal to a pure str strong bow crit

With a Nova bow +7 and with roughly FB white gear +5 the pure int 2 shotted people with full nova gear but was it 2-3 shotted itself , while my pure str bow could just sit there tanking until it critted and they died...or I got stunned/critted and died

If you're going pure str go fire/ice light doesnt add much dmg and ice helps alot more
If you're going pure int you better have pimp gear so you can tank 4 hits , otherwise str is better

Edit: Personally I enjoyed the pure int more because it was hilarious to 2 shot people with nova gear (specifically a warrior cleric with a nova +3 set and a nova 2h/1h +5 pvp'd really well.....probably wont 2 shot people now since more people have upgraded their stuff to +5-7)
