Character Trade system

Post by Vaya »

I don't know if this feature exist in any mmo, just an idea that popped into my head.
Just like the title says, ingame character trade system, when you are bored from you character, and you don't want to play with this class or race anymore, you can put it in something that's similar to the consignment and you get offers for trading it.

Let's say you have an account called "A" and you have 4 characters in it 1,2,3 and 4
you can trade your number 3 character for another new one, next time when you log in you won't see char 3, you will see your new one instead.

and the trade system would show every single detail about the character, the inventory, and everything in its inventory will be transferred with it, but guild membership doesn't transfer, non tradable account bound items goes automatically to your storage and doesn't get transferred either.

the game would be more fun, because when you want to try a new build you won't have to start over from level 1, you are a Chinese archer and want to try the xbow, trade your character for xbow.

you get offers on your character, no one can offer any character except the one that he's logged on from, character transfer takes 1 day, in that day you will be able to see the other character's details at any time, or cancel the trade, and none of both character will be able to leave town, buy or sell anything.

this is my idea, if it will ever be done by Joymax, add "item mall" to every sentence I've wrote

It is a good idea but it involves much programming , so don't expect it soon on any mmo .
So in the first week in college i went with jeans and the pajama's shirt. Didn't notice what i was wearing till after i returned home.

Ummmm not really

I'm pretty sure it's avoided because many games have items that you pay real money for, or features etc. Then you trade your character and chargeback..what now? There's many things that have to be considered, but it would be an awesome feature.

not sure if this is what you mean but the new mmo Eden Eternal has something like this, you can change classes at will. For example i start as warrior but decide to go mage later then switch to archer or thief if i get bored. In essence a single char has all the skillz/classes.

Is that what you mean?

He meant it more like the pokemon trading system, but changing classes at will would be pretty awesome too. It would be cool to have a quest that resets all your skills + stats.

not in sro....i can already imagine an army of wiz/nuker bots playing 24/7 till they reach cap then switching over to warrior/rogue/archer for the "pwnage"

It doesn't really work that way..You'd have to find someone to trade with, and I doubt there would be very many willing classes to trade themselves for a wiz/nuker late game.

Bad idea and won't ever happen in any good MMO.

The company profits from you leveling to cap. Whether through an Item Mall or through a monthly subscription fee. The more time you spend getting to cap on any number of characters, the more money you spend(usually), and the happier the company is.

Plus, don't be such a lazy ass and level another character.

you can only do it when between level 40-50 , anyway it only appears at level 47 and it called something like downhang cave begginer quest , you can take it from any potion Npc .

Back a few years ago during the 70 cap, it took me a little over 2 years to grind my blader to lvl 54, and it was pretty under farmed. Then when I moved to Venus, I took probably about 7 months to level an xbow/rogue to lvl 34 or so. Starting over on a new character can be a bit painful when you only play 1-3 hours per week, and mostly solo grind (no one wants a blader in their party... Chinese are solo... blah blah...)

If I was more active back then, I could have partied a lot more with guild members and probably leveled a lot faster.
Missing the good times in SRO...

SRO:
1x, STR Blader (Thebes)
54, STR blader (Venice)
0x, INT wizard (Venice)
19, INT spear (Venice)
34, STR rogue/bard (Venus)
0x, STR blader (Venus)
8x, INT bard/cleric (Gaia)
