"Silkroad 2" confirmed / Future of Silkroad Online Joymax' level designer (the guy who was responsible for the awesome Forgotten World dungeon's design) has released a statement about the future of silkroad (translated to english):
"At the moment I am not satisfied with the game content. Leveling is boring and we have to put more other things into the game. [...] We failed to meet expectations from the users and I am sorry about that. We have to care more about the users' opinions. [...] A team is already starting the work on a project called "Silkroad 2"."
This sounds to good to be true. Especially the designer comments about how he messed up and that "leveling is boring" and ...."We have to care about the users opinions"... It feels like someone is playing a joke on us by saying these things that we the players actually care about.

this, its easy enough to make quests better and tweak the trading system to be worth it. They are currently concentrating on the higher level player's needs to squeeze money out of them.

Yeh, I'm sure they can change the exp requirements and fix the obvious problems out there instead of working on a next version they can screw up.
if silkroad 2 comes, gonna quit i wasted a lot of time to be a high level and start all over no thanks. +when your 100 + or 90+ the freaking level is too long way to long. you need a lot of sp. silkroad have to change the exp and sp in order to make a good game or they will never get rid of botters IMO
I think Joymax is already doing some new things for the users. The last 2 big updates in kSRO (Battle Arena, Forgotten world) did not increase the level cap (well, to 110 because kSRO was 105 before, no level cap increase when the updates come to j/c/r/th/t/v/iSRO). Instead they gave new quests for all levels and raised the EXP of old ones for example... gave instances and new pvp mode etc... no more levels to grind!
Silkroad is close to the final level cap of the game. So, if no new level cap comes in "Silkroad 1" Joymax will want you to level characters in "Silkroad 2".
To the message itself I say that it is really from Joymax' level designer, he posted artworks for the Forgotten world around 7 months before the update got released. He did not mention any details about Silkroad 2 yet, just that it will exist.
Silkroad cannot be fixed by a few little tweaks it has a lot more issues then what people think. The actual engine that it was built on is so old, it's been pushed around different developers hired by Joymax.
You only need to look at a different game like Aion which was in development for 5 years. They took a huge chance on the Engine which if you haven't seen has spectactular graphics. I'd trade the graphics of SRO for Aion's anyday.
Settings such as Graphics and Audio arn't really specific like many games. You can't even run sro like you want on High Graphics. If you can get higher than 40 fps on high i'd really like to see. lol
So if SRO 2 does go into open development it would be for the best to start fresh. The major downfall is that the servers run from korea. You'll notice a huge difference in walking and buying things by just playing rSRO and being close to Russia.
Like I've said in a previous thread like this. They wont make any big announcements of Silkroad 2 because it will scare what little fanbase they have of Silkroad and they wont make any money while still developing SRO2. I knew all along it was in development, but like most companies with a game under their belt, they wont announce the sequal to an MMO till very late on.

Aion uses Cryengine from Crytek. Joymax should use cryengine 3 to make silkroad 2.. no more multiclients

Oshi they realized that.
Or should they say : silkroad 1 is dieing and we are not making money anymore from it , so we should create silkroad 2 to keep the ``money making`` game alive...
If quests awarded Xp relative to their level and there was enough to level up making grinding the worst way to level, and quests the best way. That would already be better. Like right now, quests Exp gives a very small %.. this would be ideal for everyone to prevent to need of bots.
Repeatable quests from level 20 on. Giving a % of xp, not a value. Those quests have a Max/Min level requirement.
The % should stay stable throughout all levels. Like a 30% xp Reward
Quest difficulty increases with level so the xp is still earned, but not so dramatic that it still takes over a year for a legit to cap.
A good cap rate IMO would be take about 3-4 months. That's if they hardcore quest. That is possible in so many MMOrpgs which is why silkroad is one of the only ones where there is an "infestation" of bots.

my thoughts exactly, lets just hope they do that...

What else would you do as a company which has to make profit or has to close it's business? Silkroad was/is Joymax' most popular game, and the one which brings in most of the money. As a company they just can't sit around and wait untill nobody plays it anymore and then start to think " hey guys, maybe we should come up with somethings."
In my point of view it is pretty clear that "SRO2" will come sooner or later. I guess silkroad was one of the top 10 most played f2p MMORPGs and in the game industry it isn't unusual to create a sequel of halfway well known games.

Pretty much this. . .But in all reality, I think the mmo community as a whole is just sick and tired of *grind* as content, which is why the mmo market has stagnated over the past couple of years, pretty much 90% of all games are just like silk-road, hardly any REAL content and only *content* i.e. more grind and calling it content when its just fighting the same mob (sometimes with the same skin but different color even) and calling that content. People are waking up and arent taking that BS anymore.
I know when Guild wars 2 comes out, all these shit games are going to die out.

seriously to good to be true boring leveling, nothing to do and caring more about users' opinions are all the things people complain about and could be fixed on the curent sro. it just wouldnt be cost effective to make a new game(as it costs millions to make a mmo)
also the link doesnt say where it got its information from, apart from some unamed designer they didnt bother to find out the name of.
i am not creative enough to have created a sig yet.
The information are directly from the level designer "gump" (gump[at]joymax.com). At the moment, Joymax is also searching more level designers for SRO, maybe for SRO2?
About the quests: Quests give higher EXP, 40 new quests at hotan/karakoram/taklamakan for lvl 40-80 are coming (quite good exp too), Forgotten World also will bring new quests for faster EXP gaining. Not on iSRO yet, you guys still have the slow-leveling-version of SRO.
