And Federer said Sampras was god (I may have paraphrased), gotta look at the stats. Federer was dominant, sure, but he can't beat Nadal and he lost Wimbledon. Laver on the other hand has 3 (or maybe 2, I forget) Grand Slams, all 4 majors in one year more than once, that's dominance. (sure, the surfaces were mostly the same, but still) Yes, he also lost to Rosewall, Laver's Nadal, and Roche (Roche might be a better Nadal) but he still managed more than one calender year Grand Slam. Btw, great poll @ tennis.com.

Sampras, before Roger won roland garros, said the Laver era wasnt even that competitive. I dont know about that, tho i'm sure this one is competitive. I'm a tennis fan and i love the fact that everyone can beat everyone. I used to love Sampras and Agassi when i was younger, best matches ever; i stayed up until 5am, 6am watching their matches.

I agree on what you said. Laver won everything as he pleased. But most of the people, including me, said that Roger needed to win roland garros (to tie sampras in major titles) in order to become the GOAT. And he didnt. Nadal poppped in and brought roger back to earth, etc, etc.

But this year, since Nadal's style of play is pretty much killing his knee, and lost against Soderling. I believe it was roger's bigger chance to win it, and he did. And all the former tennis players agreed that he, now, is the best of all times.

Man, i'm just glad i got to see federer that sunday on the central court. One of my best moments in my life.
