SRO running on Windows 7

Post by Slimas »

Don't know if it's right section to post this, if not, so mods please move it to right section.

I've got problems with running Silkroad Online on Windows 7 32-bit OS. After long using of SRO client, like for 3-4hours, I'm always getting big Client lag, it's not my PC or Internet connection problem, because I can properly use internet and Computer for other work. It's not 3rd partys program problem, because I'm not using none of them. Silkroad directory and all of those files are clean, not modified. I truly believe it's clients problem of none compatibility with Windows 7. I think it's registry problem, because after starting SRO_client.exe in Task Manager it shows ~300KB of memory usage. Using SRO_Client.exe it grows till ~900KB++ memory usage, with other OS it haven't grown so large. Any idea's?

Try running it in any compability mode, preferably Win XP, solves some problems, might solve this too.

Yeah, why not...

Yes, i've tryied that also. Reinstalled Windows 3 times, and also 3x SRO. Maybe it's because of drivers, because i can't install newest drivers. I'm using ones i downloaded from Microsoft autoupdate or so on... But still it only happens after certain time of playing sro. And I fail to see connection with drivers..

Yeah that or any multicore cpu (quad, i7), if so, try to set core affinity to a single core, sometimes that works wonders.

The drivers downloaded with windows auto updates normally are the newest ones afaik, esle it would be a lame UPdate ^^

Yeah, haven't even thought about affinity of one core, but about drivers it's not the newest, because GTA IV lags too, like every 5s video stops for 1s, but only video, sounds run normally. Okay, I'll try with affinity. THX.

You are using 32bit version. Switch to 64bit version. There will be no problems if you dont have any driver issues.

Well, I though about that, but really lazy to download 64bit version :D I'm using 32bit, and i have 4GB of RAMS, so it's only make things worse, but still... Okay, I'll try someday.

Erm... i dont know what u have but...

I tryed to run ECSRO in both WIndows 7 32/64 bit.

In both cases cpu usage was average 60% with tops around 90%. It was unplayable.

Spec:
clean win 7 installation + windows xp compatibility mode
gf 8600gt
4gb ram
gigabyte p31 d3sl or smth
drivers - all from windows 7 update

If i leave game running in stall: few hours (2-3) and game crushes. If i try to play framrate drops to 5-10fps every 2seconds.
