Imbues on nuke

I just made a nuker and have some questions..

1. When using an imbue in doing a nuke(fire/light)... Do the imbues still have their effect when they are used in a nuke, like freeze,DoT,frostbite and splash damage??

2.Does a same skill tree of nuke and imbue(Eg. Lion shout and light imbue) do more damage or fire imbue still does the most damage when combined with any nukes??

1 - Yes

2 - Fire imbue still makes a little more damage, with any nuke.

fire imbue compared to ice imbue as a pure int, the dmg with ice will be much less
