Bard sub Lock or Cleric?

I've got a little nub bard I'm working on. I want to use bard for battle still and what not. So I was thinking cleric but then I hear Lockbards are fun.

So I'm wondering how lockbard would work. Like do you cast DoTs and then switch to fast nukes of bard? or what? I don't want to just switch to warlock for battle =(. I like using my bardness.

Cleric would be the more practical party use. But meh.

I searched and all people said was lockbard is fun, no one said exactly how it's used lol. So I'm thinking dots/bard nukes for zerks. Maybe vampire touch for minor self-healing.
