Task Manager question

Post by Morgoth »

I'm sure this has a simple answer but I'm just not finding it.

For some reason, my task manager went from showing the commit charge in Megabytes to this:

does anyone know how to change it so that is shows it in Megabytes again?

commit charge: can understand as the maximum pagefile space. When cross that limit, your system will be shutdown, restarted or require memory is not enough to run more programs.

To change the pagefile:

1. right click "My computer"
2. Properties -> Advance -> Performance settings
3. Advanced tab -> Virutal memory change
4. Choose the hard drive u like where u store the pagefile
5. Choose custom size so you can set manually. It's up to decide how much you want. A sro client require ~ 400 Mb pagefile, other programs and windows ~ 400 Mb more. So it's better to set it to 1500Mb or more.
6. After choose an amount. Click "Set" then Ok to apply changes. Restart pc may require.

P.S: when pagefile is low, u'll see the commit charge in Kb, when it's high enough, u'll see it in MB.
Commit charge is the sum of total pagefile and RAM ie virtual memory and physical memory

Wait, what if my commit charge is recommended at 1536, max is 3072.

If i change the Initial Size from 1536 to 3000, will that change anything in my computer?

i.e. will the performance be better?

Depends how much you up it, PF aren't as efficient as actual RAM. So it could lessen in some cases.
