DDoS protection starts(!) at around 500$ monthly, this is only for 1gbit of protection. The biggest pservers get around 7gbit of DDoS on a medium attack, go do the math.

A decent dedicated server in europe starts at around 200-300$, you could go for less in certain datacenters (ovh and hetzner) but they're not exactly known for their quality hardware nor network.

Anyway, I told them from the start, their team had no structure, I have trouble working in a group of 4 people, let alone work with 12 people all doing it their own way. Maybe if they had decent leadership they could have managed something, there were some skilled people in their team, I guess SRO is cursed :soosad:

My least favorite thing about silkroad private servers is that there's a billion of them, which are all the same.

"But tasdik, they're not all the same! There's chinese only servers, 130 cap servers, etc."

True. But I feel like the silkroad community as a whole would be far better of with 5-10 private servers, all unique in their own way. Instead of what we have now. (average of 50-100 players on a server that lasts a month or two before dying, only to be replaced by 10 other servers which even further divide the population.)

It'd be amazing to go back to the days when there was only a few private servers. Larger communities are far more entertaining than smaller ones. Too bad that `1.) People are greedy mofos who just want to make a quick buck. 2.) Most of the private servers have horrible GM teams.

Oh well.
