and here is someone who judges whole of wow pvp based on a few minutes of playing someone else's character. that's why hunters are known as huntards, now even their friends behave like one when they play it.

of course gear will win in any game, but put 2 almost equally geared players together in sro and wow and compare what pvp is like.

WoW.

Some of the best features:

-Auction House: No stalls needed. You want to sell an item, you put them in the Auction House for up to 48hrs, people bid on them or buy them out. Simple, no more afk stallers.

-BattleGrounds: PvP area, capture the flag, take control or areas, etc. A fun way to kill time if you are tired of questing. Also, you get Honor Points per Kill, per winning, and you can cash them out for really cool pimped gear.

-Linking items: In chats, you can shift click on your item, and the item will be linked in the chat. Anyone can click on it and see it.

i could go on...

I've played Sro for about 2+ yrs, and Wow for 2 months.

Honestly, neither. I'd rather play Everquest 2 simply because of the community's and the overall storyline/lore of the game.

Of course, I have and still subscribe to WoW. Infact I play it pretty frequently it is a fun game. It is easy to log in and do some battlegrounds(pre-mades) with some friends. It is a pay to play game, therefor its going to be easily better than Silkroad.

Even though SRO is categorized as a MMORPG, I dont look at it as one. Im not sure if any of you have actually played an MMORPG before SRO so I am just going to assume you havent judged by the fact I can see the lack of experience in your posts. I started off with Ultima Online, and progresed into Everquest and Dark Ages of Camelot.

Coming from that background, than moving to SRO (which I no longer play, however have played since beta) its easy to say that I have a grip on what an MMORPG is. What I am implying is that, trying to compare WoW to SRO is nearly impossible. You are going to have biased reviews period.

But if you are looking from a perspective of an actual MMORPG, WoW overtakes silkroad with no contest. You will find people who play, as they are called Korean Grinders, typically cannot play WoW because the technology and interface system even controls are far superior to their knowledge.

I can sum it all up with a single picture. This is a screen I took of wow, about
a week ago. First you will notice, this is not the basic UI. Wow has
customizable EVERYTHING. Sro... well... it doesn't have anything thats even
remotely customizable. I have numerous mods just across the top of the
page that I won't even go into because they are so cool it would take up a
paragraph each. Anyways. Second, check out the professions. You can
make your own shit! Everything from armor to weapons, to jewels,
everything. That makes it so hard to run across someone with the same
anything as yourself. Note the expansions on the bags. You can increase
bag space... just by adding more bags... omg.. so novel.

People say they don't like wow because the graphics are "terrible". They
aren't really that bad. Customer Service + awesome gameplay and design +
moderately ok graphics = much better then Joymax and low quality
everything.

dont get me wrong, SRO is a good game if you have the friends, the kit and the Union but thats as good as it gets im afraid.

WoW is just better in every aspect, when you do instances you play for the preservation and progression of each other! Not just who wants the SoX or their name up on the server or the repuation that goes with being a total prick. I played SRO for quite a long time, within three weeks im level 45 on WoW, had a total of four boosts (DM, Stockades twice and Gnomeregan) all the rest has been doing the brillant amount of quests that are on offer and doing instances with my guild and total randoms who, on the whole, understand the whole ethic of team play.

Ive not had this much fun since the great days of Battlefield 2.

There is nothing about Silkroad's party system that is better than WoW's. Considering Silkroad's party system is not an established grouping system.

If you knew a first thing about WoW you'd know that WoW's party system is far superior to that of SRO's, simply because SRO is based upon solo-play and WoW on team-play.
Name me one group activity apart from the upcoming update plx?

But anyway, WoW beats SRO in pretty much every aspect. The only thing SRO has contrary to WoW is the so-called triangular conflict, which has many many flaws.
Where WoW has Battleground (cross-realm) and Arena for straight up PvP, and Instances/raids for PvE. For those that don't know, you do instances with a group of up to 40 people, depending on the type of the instance, where you need a strong group set-up, with endless possibilities to change a certain class/spec. Several different types of tanks, different types of healers, and about 6-10 different types of Damage Dealers, all with their own important role.
Compared to SRO which has no such thing, and the only thing that differs people from others is by putting 50 points in Int instead of 40?
What exactly would be SRO's PvE content? The endless mindnumbing grinding you do from 1-80? The unique bosses that spawn once every 4 hours? Give me a break..
Once you hit the cap the only thing left to do is hang outside Donwhang, play some PvP and get completely owned by those that spend their lifes in the game and have full SoSUN everything..

Don't get me wrong though, SRO is a good game I wouldn't have played it for as long as I did if it wasn't. But SRO is just a mere shade of WoW..

You can't say a specific game is better than another, because what primarily does a game do(?); it entertains. So, this boggles down to the utmost problem: everything you say is based on opinion. Because, to say which game is best, is really just best for you and probably not necessarily for your peers. Every game was made to create entertainment, i.e. fun , for their targeted audience.

And, depending on what you like, that game is what you should be playing.

The specifics of this or that game is better because the graphics is much better, or this or that game is better because it has better configurations still create big problems. Do you really want an eye-candy game? Or do you really want a multiple options for game configurations? -- Maybe you just want a simple game to play, such as games like Tetris, Ping pong. Or, maybe you like very social games, like Sims Online, Uru Online, etc.

Find out what you like best, and play that game.

Guys, you're all missing the point, SRO HAS MODS! Jeez.

In fact, I'll sell you a personally modded mouse and keyboard custom made for the maximal playing potential silkroad online has to offer at the low Christmas discount of $19.99 (retail price $39.99). Pm me for order forms.

I'm not really bitching, just saying I like customer service. I still have silk on my comp, and would love to play. Only problem is that I have to spend $30 and then another 2 hours just to log in and buy a premium ticket in order to do that. I would rather spend that 2 hours running around on wow and enjoying 100% log in chance regardless of money spent.

Btw. Lol at the mouse/keyboard comment. I would totally pay for that if I still used those keys in wow. xD

@ Lith

lol, ima level 22 rogue, i have 830HP. leatherworking and armor kits FTW!!

sadly, especially for teh ninitiated, the 10 dy trial isn't really enough to experience even the slightest myriad of activities you can do in game.

but like a lot of people here before, i too was continuously hoping for SRO to get better, till i quit hoping. maybe we should move this thread to off topic, coz it just might frustrate people who are still trying to make teh game work in their own little way.

Eh, thats ok. They can continue to read this thread, in all its glory. Really... what you should do, is not spend 40$ on silk for a month... and go get the battle chest for wow. That would give you a free month of wow that you can play, and enjoy. Then you will be hooked. ^_____^

I play both games and i agree with VanTokkern. WoW is much more about teamplay than SRO. For example, you can get the best equip in a dungeon thats made for 25 men. You will rely on 24 players of your guild to be able to go there.
PvP is also about teamplay and everyone who says that it takes no skill didnt play it seriously. In Sro you either hit your enemy for hours, using the same few skills over and over again thx to the short potdelay or you kill them in seconds. So dont tell me that pvp in SRO takes more skill than in WoW..
in WoW heavy potusing isnt possible because of long cooldowns and damage is much lower compared to the players Hitpoints. Also the classes have more different skills and are more balanced than in sro.
There are many small things that you can do in WoW except of killing monsters or players, for example learning a job (blacksmith, Tailor, Alchemist, fishing, cooking and so on..).
Support is much better in WoW and you will also have more updates.

But if you dislike the graphics of WoW and prefer solo playing then sro might be the better game for you. I play them both because both are fun. But if i had to decide for one then i'd pick WoW with no doubt.

I play SilkRoadOnline. I have played WOW and thought the game and its inhabitants childish. Its not a crime to prefer one game over another.

SilkRoad is kinda the WildWest of gaming. Its unregulated and might makes right. In some ways, yes bots and security holes the size of Antarctica, it sucks. In other ways, I like it. I dont WANT a GM breathing down my neck every time I tell someone to eff off. I dont need or want 24 hour supervision. WOW is a family friendly game designed to make the most ppl happy. I dont want that. So I stay here. WOW still has bots, still has gold sellers and gold farmers, still has issues like every other game. This one, I dont have to pay for if I dont want to. If I log off and dont want to play for a month, so what I dont lose a thing.

I also prefer the more realistic chars and graphics, lack of stupid elves (Why ELVES ffs) and the Korean hard core grind over stupid quests and instances over and over and over and over and over....

Two completely different games, they are hard to compare to each other.

yah, gfx. that was also my main defense for SRO. WoW graphicsis more on the cartoonish side. but looking into it, their dioramas, portraits, wallpapers. there's more to in-game graphics and it also growed into me as time passed by, especially when u start to understand the main storyline. Orcs to me,were just stupid but physically strong foot soldiers, but when u do a quest to go see Thrall, the Orc leader, i was really awed at him, stitting boredly on hid throne. SRO is like an unpoliced town, and that's good. But i like it better when hostility is an established thing. that way, it's controlled and constatn. yes i hated being capped and farmed with almost nothing to do coz my gears are too low, lol! anyway, here was a gift from a random player i rode a ship with from Undercity to Ordgrimmar:

a chest piece santa suit for teh sex!

LOLOLOLOLOL

the screenies of WoW you all posted makes me wanna gag.
the only plus side is i bet i could get more fps on WoW than on sro, sro client is like anti-fps for any gfx card out there.

its seriously disgusting, i run crysis faster than sro's hotan kingdom.
