You can`t eat it anywhere outside of Quebec. The cheese used is made only by a couple companies, and all of them distribute only in Quebec and Northern Ontario. The cheese is unpressed and unprocessed, the watery salty stuff they use in production is still in the cheese, it makes it chewy and squeeky. If you were to make a poutine without that cheese it would taste not as good.
