If anyone said it takes no skills to play this game, then you are dead wrong.

There are many people with Suns that don't know how to play their character and get pwn3d cause all they do is spam the same keys over and over again. We all know about XMAT & FiaRist... they are covered with sosuns but don't know how to wield the power proficiently and get pwn3d by me all the time while I was still playing.

And then when it comes to team play (e.g. guild wars, job wars, etc) their n00biness is amplified... they die so many times it's unbelievable.

I've had many capped people that PM me and ask me the dumbest questions that it's shocking. It takes mad skills to single-handedly own a guild full of capped level 80s. That's why people love to see me PVP :P

I'm gonna jump in real quick...

I don't think this is a skill based game. Sure, you gotta have basic knowledge on how to play, and the more you know the better off you will be. But too many times I've seen people on Troy sell their capped account to a complete SRO newbie... he'd suck at first because he had no idea what he was doing. But given a month of practice, he was as good as any other capped player with gear like his.

This game is all about gear.
The gear is all about gold.
The gold is all about cash.

Europe is another story. But as for the Chinese race...

http://www.YouTube.com

That's all it takes to learn the basics on how to play your character.

Edit: I realize there are CERTAIN aspects to the game that can take skill. But overall... eh no.

Hmm, I agree to a point. Skill in this game is based entirely on tactics and how you manage what you have. Seems everyone else is saying it though, so I will keep it short. Gear is a huge part of this game, along with the skill sets that you use in pvp, but overall, if you do not have the knowledge (ie. skills) to use them, then your dead in the water.

For example, I have a lvl 64 blader. He has a 9 gap and I pvp with him all the time. Everyone tells me to switch to glavie because it does so much better damage then the blader. During pvp I have found that I will rarely lose to people who have glavies because either they simply don't have the knowledge of which skills to use.

Sure you have people spamming the 1 -3 keys, but really you can't say that this is any better then people on FPS's who spam the crouch, prone, and jump keys.

This is a game of skill. Skill is very important.
Of course, time and items/cash count much, but it's very much about skill too. Sometimes, even when playing a STR glaiver.

Let me give you some examples:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73-WbY4w0p4

Let's have a look at the first fight.

Look at the glaiver. He is a complete idiot. That's one of the reasons he gets beaten. Just watch how he ghost walks on the first time.
You can tell that he is spamming his mars button. After like 2 seconds, he ghost walks like an idiot and then has to return before he can get another hit in.
At 0:47 he does it again. At 1:04, he doesn't ghost walk, leaving the INT the chance to get a nuke across untouched.

On the other hand, look at the INT. He is not spamming his keys, hitting only the precise button of the skill he wants. And ghost walking after each stun.

A clear example of how a battle is won by skill much more then gold/items.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKqCimjzZzM

This is also skill.
Carry your cross, and I'll carry mine.

Crumpets wrote:Wait, what? You think that you can just jump into sro, spend a week and be the best?

Sorry but that's utter bullshit. This game is based on the long term grind. Be it by hand or bot you can decide. If you don't like the grind go play some easy leveling game like cabal or wow.

Yeah there are not alot of skill variation but ALOT of people love it. Ant thats what makes sro so special. It dares to do it's own thing. Ofcourse some one who played the game for a year is totally going to rock someone whos been playing for alot less. of course if it's My lvl > Random lvl = Me win. Cause I invested more time .. lol.

I agree there are alot of little kids ... but that gives me the surge to continue. All these little mouthing I F*CK MAMA kids or general immature retards make this game quite amusing. All tho if some one can kill you ... they have the right to smack talk, seeing as they > you. If you don't like it go grind more or buy better gear. Even if they botted to the cap bought 3 full sun sets every sun wep and sun jewels .. you still have a chance. only the gullible quit.

Oh yeah .. and please don't stereotype.

Ye,there are kids whos first thought is this "Now lets download then install the game, make a character, play awhile.Oh its borin i cant understand, lvls come so slow ,blah i better go to Google and search Silrkoad online Cheats."

Mirrrorman wrote:I'm sorry if you disagree, but this game is not a game of skill.

It's purely and exclusively based on time, ie. the amount of time you have invested levelling up your character and pimping your equipment.

Thus calls like "noob' and the like, intended to be an insult really prove nothing. All it says is that you have spent more time on your character than your opponent, making you stronger and able to kill him( her).

I am sick to death of all the punk ass little brat kids who play this game and call you noob, weak etc.. because it really is not the case.

To be frank it's simple mathematics. Your level > my level, so you win. It really is that simple.

Of course there are variations of skills, strength, quality of equipment, but I believe this only applies within 5 or so levels. That is to say a level 43 character with totally pimped full SOS may be able to kill a level 48-53 character, but when the gap is ten levels or more, skill has nothing to do with it.

To some you'd agree I am stating the obvious, to others you might be shocked and dismayed that you don't actually possess anything more than a higher level character, you are NOT special, you individually are in no way better at playing this game than the trader ten levels below you that you just killed.

I am an older player (26), coming from a background of platformers like Mario, Sonic, WOnder BOy etc. and fighting games like Street Fighter and Mortal KOmbat where split second reflexes and hand-eye co-ordination was most definitely required to be good. Not simply the time you've invested in your character.

I can't stress enough how much these (assumptions....) spoilt, obese American children with rich, neglectful parents annoy the hell out of me when they claim superiority after killing someone (me) when it has nothing to with ability, only maths.

Sorry I don't use a cheat /bot program, and I work full time to pay my mortgage, maintain a relationship (no kids thank f'king christ) and cook, clean, shop etc.. so I simply can't be playing this game ten hours a day. That doesn't mean you can give me shit about being a mere level 43, when you've botted, bought gold and mooched off your parent's paying your internet, electricity, food etc bills and got seven level 70+ characters.

/end rant

1 of the best rants I've heard and yes it is hard to ignore little, fat , no-girlfriend 12 year olds calling me a noob when they kill me and then they brag about it I mean what is so good about u killing me on my lvl 46 nuker and then bragging about it?? Anyways it usually end's up with me calling his mama a whore, me acting like a spoiled brat I try not to act like, a massive flamewar and me going on my lvl 65(yay!!! lvl up!!)bowwomen and owning him like he owned me then I'm gonna own him some more^^

It takes skill to make a build that will not only give you a super strong offense but will also give you taht little extra bit of defense taht will be enough to destroy your opponent before they destroy you. Now that.. takes skill.

exactly how does youtube.com teach you how to pvp? it shows pvp, not teach it.

when i first look at a new game's pvp, it all seems simple and learnable at first glance. but each skill has it's own attribute. and you can't expect to spam fire nukes, or GSM's, or whatever teh hell bowers have as their strongest attack. what i'm saying is that knowing your strongest attacks, and being skilled enough to know when to use it with your weak attacks decides the outcome.

in the spirit of this really cool blader guy that more or less frequents these forums and goes by the name of someone that's elevated, go on with your opinion that this game requires no skills, better that way so when i get to cap, it'll be easier for me to own you. or quit, more server space for me to log in.
i'm a grateful grape

I actually did that thing in Mixmax's Sig!

all you need to know about skill, no CS:S linear 'easy as 123' style FPS there. :P

Don't talk about stuff you know nothing about :)

umm i do know thanks, ive played them both. CS:S is in no doubt a very good game, just lacks that certain something that BF2 can provide. I found CS:S and insanely easy game to play, it cant offer you what BF2 has tho. in that respect they are different games.

AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! If battlefield had anything close to responsive controls it would be playable. It has a good upgrade system, FoW, and 'physics', but the controls RUIN it. There is a literal one second lag between command and attack. -.- pity.

there is no lag between command and attack, you are talking out ur a*s. a lot of people cannot get on with BF2, esp the infantry only servers. can you give me a link to your stats please? then maybe i can sympathise with what your saying if i can see what kinda player you are.

Hey Mirrorman, in the immortal words of John Brown "HALLELUJAH, HOLLA BACK!!!!" Between work, planning my wedding, and dealing with an enraged fiance, it is hard to find the time (let alone 8-10 hours a day like some of the freaks that play this game) to play anymore, not to mention it takes over 20 minutes just to get logged in. And i agree, it takes the skill of a retard to point and click on something to kill. This game gets boring as hell most of the time. The only reason I even play anymore is because I am a Silkroad crackhead. Getting the next level is like another hit for me (from the bong that is, i don't smoke crack...lol). And i can't get off my eternal search for the next best weapon even it it is 5 lvls away. And for all you little eleventeen year olds out there, respect your elders. I had to put 2 little kids in their place last night for calling me an old man. Just remember little ones, you might be a badass in game, but i can travel to your town on my corporate card and beat the shit out of you in real life in front of your little friends!!!!i feel better now... And since we're kickin it 8-Bit, i will leave you with an oldy but goody! "UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A, SELECT, START"
