That's just an example. I want to catch him (by catch I mean find out he actually bots) without him knowing.

In that situation, simply check his GP. If it goes up (which it should every 10 sp points he earns) and he doesn't respond then you will know.

What about people that grind with F12? Their gp will go up and not answer because they can't see that you are talking to them.

chances that he isnt using bot are pretty low since u r probably not botter...

what the diffrence if he bottin or not? u should focus on ur char and life u shouldnt interfere in other ppl decisions...

Even if it's true that 9/10 people bot it's still possible to have a legit guild and I know because I'm in one. The reason it matters if someone does or doesn't bot in a guild is because I'm sure most if not all guilds (legit or not) have a set of morales or rules to follow and these people do not want to associate themselves with people that break their morales or rules which is perfectly understandable.

With the mentality you gave on how whether or not someone bots you shouldn't interfere on other people's decisions you might as well ask what's the difference between if someone in your guild scams or not. I'm sure that's his decision too and, as long as you're not the one getting scammed, it doesn't affect your char in any direct way and because it's his decision you shouldn't interfere in that as well. This example can go with other things that another guildmate can do that won't directly affect you however when you have guildmates that do these kind of things, it's possible to be labeled with them for the same thing which I know happens when someone who hand grinds joins a guild notorious for botting. Often the person who hand grinds gets labeled as a botter because of guilt by association.

botting is more like littering where scamming would be more like robbing someone or mugging someone... I don't see how you compare the two, I know this is not the real world we're discussing, but that doesn't mean it's all black and white either.

The best way to catch a botter is to place a large rat trap, with a free working 3rd party program as bait. Just come back and check the trap now and again

The reason I was comparing the two is because both have to do with morales and rules a guild might have and I used scamming as an example so someone who wouldn't understand why someone would wanna be in a legit guild and not want botters in a guild would understand why someone would want them out of a guild. There was other examples of this, like having racist guild members, ones that constantly talk smack, etc but I think scamming would have been best to get my point across.
