1 half tea spoon of cayenne pepper powder (very cheap in any grocery store)
3/4 of a pint of warm water.
gargle and sip very slowly, the cayenne is a lil hot on the lips but you can always compromise on how much you add. seriously, good tip i just fought off the worst sorethroat this weekend doing this (y) and for those of u who like spicy food, this is a treat hehe, its not even that bad and tastes alot better then salt water, that stuff makes me gag

yes it works very well, but I personally like to wait for it to cool down to a relatively warm temperature Gargling warm salt-water and having tea are great ways to make it feel better EDIT: I gotta try this cayenne pepper thing though maybe next time.
