I said the name problem, where people have capital i in place of lower case l... which looks the same, getting away with stuff. That could be solved by changing fonts so it differentiates.

Ohh that easy.. Ok why haven't they done it? Ohhh could it be its not as easy as you think?

You don't know, I don't know.. NO one knows even SRO doesn't know.

Get used to bots or leave the game.

(Im not going to respond to any more bot posts because everyone knows how to fix the bot problem!! )

No place at all did you post at bots. But you do know alot about how they work.. Hmmm..

Well gee, maybe because I pay attention to what other people say? Info about bots and how they work are posted all the time in various forums. If you are even thinking of accusing me of botting, go ahead and do it. See what the reaction is from the xian people on the forums.

No I'm laughing cause you dare accuse me of botting, just because I happen to be very good at paying attention to various details.

I'm sure you're going to deny that the post I quoted, is implying a bot accusation. It's quite obvious it is implying it.

No never serious, after all its only a game. :) It would seem a bit crazy to fight over a made up game. I don't get mad but post out of jest and hope to god that the person im sparing with has control over his or her feelings.
I might be wrong but I view 99% of the hate posts as jokes. Really why get mad over a game.

what i meant by that was, "are you freaking kidding me?", as in, "are you really crazy enough to go back and forth flaming each other and throwing accusations around and you DON'T expect to get modded?"

good, i'm glad that's settled..

Actually this person is incredibly smart.

B4 I post anything I'd like to know what Ryoko's stance would be...

I second that. Joey, what do you do in your every day life? I am assuming it's something involving programming, or at least computers in general. Most people don't know about packets and how they work...the only person I know who knows how to manipulate the packets of a game duped Windforces(the best bow in Diablo 2:LOD) in a very large amount. Have you duped before? No I'm not accusing. :D

I have a question for you Joey: Is it possible to do as someone else said above, to disguise the GM's packets as a monster packet? That sounds like a good idea.
Peace.

I don't know how to code worth anything. I do happen to be a very frequent regular in an irc for a private server that's in development. Packets and how decoding them and such, are often used when making a private server from scratch. Just by watching/participating in that irc, I've learned quite a bit. If I had an code skill at all, I could also probably even do a basic private server myself.

(Note: It's a private server for a different game, not sro.)

Edit: as for your last question. I don't honestly know for sure, but I can try and find out.

Edit 2:

Mick = one of the developers
SSchi = me

[21:30] <Mick> >_>
[21:30] <SSchi> like i was saying lol
[21:30] <SSchi> a question about packets...
[21:30] <Mick> lol
[21:30] <Mick> whats that
[21:30] <SSchi> I have a question for you Joey: Is it possible to do as someone else said above, to disguise the GM's packets as a monster packet? That sounds like a good idea.
[21:30] <SSchi> Joey = me
[21:31] <Mick> lol...
[21:31] <Mick> that makes no sense at all
[21:31] <SSchi> i'll link you to the topic <_<
[21:31] <Mick> the packet type is defined by the op code in the header
[21:32] <Mick> so its either a packet to do with monsters, gm commands, or whatever
[21:32] <Mick> you can change the payload
[21:32] <Mick> but that will just make it an invalid packet
[21:32] <SSchi> well
[21:32] <Mick> you can change the payload to contain assembly
[21:32] <Mick> for a buffer overflow attack
[21:32] <SSchi> http://www.silkroadforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=20254
[21:32] <Mick> but that has nothing to do with gm packets
[21:33] <SSchi> basically, srobot seems to work on packets
[21:33] <SSchi> and it can detect gm's, so i'm guessing gm's send special packets
[21:34] <Mick> oh, your wondering how a bot can detect a gm?
[21:35] <SSchi> hmm...
[21:35] <Mick> gm's probably have a field in thier spawn packt
[21:35] <Mick> or
[21:35] <Mick> the bots have a library of gm names
[21:35] <Mick> easy enough to detect a gm or anything
[21:35] <Mick> nothing to do with hiding packets in other packets
[21:35] <SSchi> just how the gm's might be able to hide their identity so it doesn't make the bot go "hey, there's a gm around, time to disconnect the client!"
[21:36] <Mick> oh, gms need to hide
[21:36] <Mick> then just make normal chars and log in like that
[21:36] <Mick> simple
[21:36] <Mick> or update their protocol to make gm spawn packets the same as normal player spawn packets
[21:36] <Mick> i.e. remove the gm flag, if such a flag exists
[21:37] <Mick> will require a client update too

How cool would it be if the GM packet could be disguised as a monster, and bots go into auto-attack on the GM? :D

[GM]Somedumbname : Excuse me ffghjkwtr, plz stop attacking me or I'll ban you

Now why doesn't JM cum up with an idea like that by themselves ? Good thinking UBer_Wang 8)

Yes, I am not a coder but there does seem to be a logic there doesn't there? :)

I mean, if the GM could be disguised then the botters may not be able to auto-logoff as GM appears.

Also, if the GM could be disguised to fool the bots into thinking he/she is a monster then how excellent a way to catch them. And FRAPS it for fun, and backup in case of complaint.

Interesting......now, how to get the idea to the developers? Whether this be a packet issue, or something totally different.
