Just got it and the gameplay so far seems "portal-like" not really mindblown by that ( just go to "The Return", barely starting ) but what has been making the experience awesome for me so far is the blue bot, god that guy is funny. Actually the entire game is filled with awesome jokes that have kept me cheery all the way through, looking forward to some better gameplay next when I sit down again. Oh and this has been said before but I just wanted to add as well that the game looks amazing.

Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken.

There were challenging levels, but they were removed due to the beta testers. "They were not solved in a reasonable amount of time." They also took out the fast action movements, because they were 'too hard and way too punishing.'
Spoiler!
Also notice when you're in old aperture it says "You are here." pointing to the last section of the underground facility. I do expect the others to be as DLC.

I am considering downloading Portal 2 on Steam. My questions are :
-Is it worth $49? -I am not a hardcore gamer anymore, i only play from time to time, so will i still be able to go through levels and enjoy the game? - How does the multiplayer campaign works?
I have Portal 1 so just tell me if i should spend $49 or just find the portal 1 box somewhere under my desk
Did you play Portal 1? Did you like it? If you answered yes then yes the game would be a great purchase. Though I recommend you buy it from Gamestop at the moment since it is $30 there.
Being 'hardcore' doesn't matter with a puzzle game. Though the puzzles are less difficult(imo) from the first Portal. Can't wait til they release the challenge levels though.

Friends list off steam, PSN friends(Whenever it goes back up), and random matching I do believe.
You can actually get the game cheaper if you buy a PS3 copy and link your PSN account to steam then sell back the copy. Problem with that entire idea is that well.. the PSN is down and you can't link it. Plenty of places are selling the game for $30~45 from the retail $50~60

I love the ending! After the roof went off, my first instinct was to shoot at the [bleep] and when I saw that it worked I busted out laughing. It felt so random but it still kept Portal's humor.

Community site thinkingwithportals.com have launched a new Portal 2 mapping contest. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to create the best singe player or co-op test chamber you can think of, and submit it to the Thinking With Portals download database before 11:59pm EDT on June 6. Entries submitted at midnight will be incinerated in the nearest Aperture Cleansing Oven.
The best two mapers will receive an Ultimate Portal 2 Gift Pack signed by the Portal 2 developers and both maps will be featured by Valve on The Portal 2 site. Read on for the rules of entry.
You'll find full details on the Thinking With Portals contest page. The rules are below. Good luck!
Maps must be submitted no later than June 6th at 11:59pm EDT. Both Singleplayer and Co-op maps are allowed. You may submit one map of each game mode. Maps cannot contain custom assets of any kind. No exceptions. Spend your time working on your puzzle, not making models, textures, sounds/voices, or other extra content. Maps must contain both an Entry and an Exit elevator, the style of which as appropriate for your map theme. 1940's Aperture maps can use the old style elevators, destroyed Aperture can use the destroyed looking elevators, and so on. Maps must be able to be completed without using engine or portaling glitches of any kind. Entries must be uploaded to the ThinkingWithPortals.com Download Database and uploaded in a compressed file format (such as ZIP, RAR or 7z). Entries must include the source VMF.
I doubt anyone cares, but a contest for Portal 2 map making. I'll probably attempt it. Though I have no idea what to do as a puzzle..
