What you just wrote makes no sense. You go to West Point to become an Army Officer, not a Marine. And surely not an enlisted marine sniper...

So, he's either going to West Point to become an Army Officer.
Or, enlisting in the Marine Corps with the hopes of becoming a sniper. You don't just say "hey, I'm going to be a sniper!" and then they hand you a rifle. There are many obstacles to get through and you have to be enlisted.

This is wrong. A sniper can be a marksman. A marksman is basically a sniper that is working with a squad. So yes-Snipers call each other snipers.
