Got pure server whitelist: sv_pure = 1. Connection to Steam servers successful. VAC secure mode is activated.
If it doesn't pop up, it's either your router is blocking it or you are still in LAN mode.
And that's how you check to see if your VAC is enabled.
Have fun sitting in the resupply by yourself.
EDIT: Also, I can CONFIRM that this does give you the unlocks after some time. Got a Flare Gun! (which I all ready had of course, )

So apparently it's not random killing or picking up items, but rather random in time.. Great they removed the old one, but this one is just as bad as before. Achievement maps made it easy to get the weapons and this one you just go afk.

honestly thats better than having to farm achievements for them. achievements are supposed to mean something, not just be something to do to get unlocks.
When we were tuning this system we first looked at the average amount of time that players spend playing TF2 daily. From there, we set the goal of most players having around 20 items in their inventory after a couple of weeks of play. If you're someone who plays a lot of TF2, you're going to get items a lot faster than that. In the first few hours after the release yesterday, we had some issues that prevented the system from working properly, so that timeframe was not indicative of the system as it's designed.
The blog was updated and this is what it said. Basically it says at random times you'll get it if you play more rather than a weekend player.
What I also find awesome/weird/win is that the trading system. The trading system that'll come out better be useful and that means they gotta pump out many items to wear/use. Such as hats we have right now. Soon probably more hats, costumes, and so on. Or at least what I hope so. =]

mhmmm, well, if they make it easier to get them then it was when i played then it wouldnt be so bad, that and trading would be good, if they develop it like they say they are it wouldnt be all bad.
Harder since you have to really invest more time to get your items. Easier, because you can go afk and obtain them(so far. They might counter act with this sooner or later) along with trading in the near future. Trading items would mean they have special stats to them or many new items. Either way would be neat.

I have a second thought to this update after some more research
apparently there is a trading system to it so you can actually trade other players for items. And many more hats to come. Although I was bashing this system before, I have to say it might be a good system after all, since it allows you to play the class you enjoy instead of just playing the class because you have to unlock something, I for one suck at playing the scout and doing the unlocks are really frustrating. So I'm not completely sold yet but I can see good things comming form the new system if valve tweak it a bit like preventing afkers form getting items.
Join an achievement idle map server. It's just an afk server and wait and wait til you get it. Last night someone got 6 hats in a row =[ The same person.. SAME PERSON WTF?!
