'Raided' as in a guild cleaning out other thieves and taking all

So yesss...you in a hunter suit.

...many time

But now we know, not to thief or pt with the lower level ones; as certain death usually arrives after.

I tried a trade run 5 mins ago. On my own. At lvl 20...
Big mistake.
I got popped by a lvl 3x thief(used a halberd), could've made it, but I ran out of pots.. I thought, lets take an other route, normally with the guys I ran with (at least the first 2 runs :P) I went through the Hyungo Homeland(or somewhat south of it), but I tried to take the "Main road" (Thats how it's called) somewhat southwest of DW. Ah well, better luck next time

well, i'm a thief but whatever.

If you're doing 1s trades, always go to those places thieves seldom go.

e.g. Jangan - DH route, South Gate Jangan->southernmost bridge->western ferry->South Gate DH. less chance of meeting 1s poppers compared to going through hohyeosol mountain(east ferry)

if you see 1s poppers(especially those who can catch up with you), ask them for a trade, pay the cost of your goods and you'll let them take it. Some thieves do make the deal, but not everyone is so kind ~.~

Another trend of low level traders, 1-7 1* traders + 1 high level bodyguard(don't need to wear hunter suit) in an exp shared party, just to prevent high level 1s poppers.

i don't know why i typed this post when i'm a thief, but whatever lol.

If a trader had an option to take a multistar without risk, would they do it? Uhhh, **** YES!!!

Basicly, thieves have been given the option to get goods with less risk than killing a multistar with multiple hunters, and its their option to take it or not.

what you don't understand is that 1*popping is an EXPLOIT, not a predetermined "option" otherwise why would there be 1*popping?

It IS the theif's job to theif..should there be limits based on ethics? nay.

yeah...don't stop at "theifing" your account either

People get mad about being robbed regardless of star. Don't BS me and say multistars don't.... I have robbed so many people, its not funny. I know who gets mad and who doesnt. Thats ALL of them.

ok genius...who in their right mind would be happy? don't forget also the theives that are robbed - at least it would be understandable if it were justifiable or balanced

The offical site said, the safest way is to take hunters.

pointless to bring any hunter less than the highest level but how's a newb to know any high levels?

I'd suggest that instead of whining because traders are being popped, traders (and probably hunters) can instead think of other ways to defend themselves.

help us genius...think for us and figure out something...waiting.......

If I'm exploiting the game, you should report me to a GM or the bug report page.

I've let so many cool, polite people go its unbelievable. Sometimes people really do get to me.

But I never let a sore loser go.

//

The 1* as it stands is fine. It gives you a chance to trade without being directly slaughtered, and gives me a chance to do thief job without needing eight level 70's to pull it off.

Without thieves hanging around the roads, hunters would be totally bored. They are already bored enough they don't do anything but gate wars. Its not my fault they don't get off their butt and go help.

When they do, they kill a thief - then switch to thief. They are not their to help you, but thats not my fault.

No matter how you want to look at it, jobs are always competitve. Thief and hunter have zero protection accept teamwork, and leveling. Try those out.

the only thing anti 1s-poppers can hope for is for joymax to come out with the npc hunters update asap. else joymax's compromise to 1s poppers in the official website still stands.

All i can say is 1* popping lamers stopped me trading full stop. Grinding is way faster to make money than a 1* anyway, so now it doesn't even bother me so much. Regardless of what many people believe, it is not 'creative' in the slightest to copy someone elses idea which is an exploit of a game mechanic. Not a direct pop at anyone in particular.

Grinding, gold and item drops are better than trading.

But grinding is 50% of the game

Without jobs, this game is nothing =/

Hehe, grinding has been 98% for my new character, i have done trade twice, and that was because i had to walk to Jangan twice for quests lol.

Trader - Not worth the time / raped by level 6x

Thief - Raped by level 6x

Hunter - You can guess where i'm going......

of course 1*popping is an exploit but it makes trade runs thrill and worth it

well to make the most of your probably-gonna-be-popped trade, why not do a multi-star? the new trend now maybe a hi-lvl bodyguard but what if there's none?

make do with a scout... even a newbie friend can do it for you. he should be aware where you wanna go. he is to scout ahead of your route for player thieves (not just 1*poppers as u r in a multi* run). the advantage of the scout against a hi-level bodyguard or hunter is that they dont need pots to help you fight the npc/player thieves, in fact all they gotta do is just run and chat back to you

I agreee with Ryoko.

I started trading at level 24, but found it boring. Learned some lessons about hunting and theiving then too. I picked up theiving again around level 30 and never stopped. You will die at that level, but that's half the fun. If it was boring why would you do it. I now help guild members do jobs at lower levels (and forum members too..).

Lastly the thing about a sore loser is so true. It's a game, death is inevitable.

BTW, that pile of loot you alerted me to the other night ended up making me around 250K before the night was through, so thanks!...I sure didn't make any new friends, that's for sure. Hopefully, 2 noobs learned a valuable leason. DO NOT take your wolf puppy out trading with you if you can't protect it!! 2 traders had to each pay 50K extra on top of what they lost because my spawns 1 hit their pups.

The one job (if I can call it that) that helps traders the most, and is worth more than several high lvl hunters, is a thankless job, that is not even part of the deliberate system for game balance. And the job can be done at almost any level. It is the scout. The one who grinds (or just pretends to be grinding) at or near the ferries on the Jangan side. The information that can be passed from such a scout can prove to be so much more valuable than hunters.

It amazes me how a game that Joymax has so painstakingly have tried to make it better for others to work together rather than solo, that some people complain, because they can't have their own little world inside where others are. There are no level limits for friendship, and anyone can do this.

Think outside the box, and nothing will be impossible for you in this game.

This is the most insightful post and most likely sums up Joymax's stance on this game mechanic. Thieves found an easy way to gain exp from 1* popping. Like others said use routes that thieves are not found easily and I have seen only a small minority of users go through the woods and over small mountains since they think they're unpassable. Also, having a scout as Coder stated could drastically exceed the chances of success. It should be fairly easy to find somebody in a guild who is sp farming. I would probably be the scout. :D

Edit: Also, I'm pretty sure a group of creative and clever users would make newer methods which makes the game interesting and competitive throughout. Grinding is in any mmorpg and basically makes the pro the one who plays the most. This game however goes tot he lengths of teamwork as mentioned by many players and creativity to fight against all odds. Endless possibilities makes this game so very unique.

ok here it goes, I have nothing against 1* poppers, but I dont do it myself, I think 1* popping is for people that are in need of fast money so they attack people many lvls bellow themselves with their thieves, they cant take out full caravans cause their chars are wrongly built or they just dont have the equiptment for it.

so sure 1* popping is alright, but imo you seem like a worse player, not as a person, but as a build and income...just stand at dead ravine and wait for rosomaki or some guild to come and take down hole caravan, instead of luring a hole day for 2x-3xers.

After thinking about it. I think these exploits are easier to make with the almost no boundaries laid out in Silk Road. I'm sure most of these exploits (suit switching, traders popping thieves, etc) would end if Joymax made it so that each player could only focus on one job (Thief, Hunter, Trader). So much exploits are basically game mechanics now since Joymax allowed such leniency with the game's boundaries. :banghead:

Edit: There is a difference between suit switching from a hunter-thief than from a neutral-thief. Hunter pretends to be good and becomes bad for traders, but neutral doesn't pretend moreover and Joymax states that Hunters will be on the lookout for thieves. Therefore, hunter-thief or class-over suit switching should not be allowed if you agree with 1* popping as banishable.

so what would happen if all the high lvls got together and camped each ferries .. hmmm? only 2 ferries to block and no more trading for low lvls.. and all they can do is cry and hope that some other high level will help them but in the end.. their trade /money is all lost .. good thing there are some people who still look out for the "noobs" in the game..

it's sad to see a poor lvl 20 guy wondering why some thief is killing them for no reason.. over and over.. and over...

but hey, that's my opinion.. joymax doesn't say don't do it or do it.. they made it the way they did for a reason.

Above poster makes a point that i made to Joymax in an e-mail. A new level 20 player who has spent days getting to that level because they cant wait to go on a trade, takes his 1* load out. WTF? he thinks, why is that player theif following me, he cant attack. Oh, he's using his level 60 npc thieves to kill me indirectly. Cool. *closes game, never plays it again*

That is my opinion wrapped up in warm pastry, covered in tomato sauce, and served with a bottle of the world's finest lager. <3 It drives away potentially good, honest people, leaving the asshats of all SRO servers to continue doing what they do best.

1* popping ruins people's fun. It is selfish, the same sort of thing a Griefer does to get his jollies in online games at the expense of other people's enjoyment. I really could care less how hard the thief job supposedly is (every time I've tried, it hasn't been difficult at all). The point is, if you suck at something, or if something doesn't go your way, cheating to get it shouldn't be your next logical solution. :)

Sorry for feeding the argument here, but there is really no other outlet for this sort of frustration.

Cheater?

You don't have to exploit an NPC or hax it to attack a trader.

You can just stand there, and it do it on his own.

They go for hunter suits, then traders, lastly thieves.

They will ignore me and run right past me if a trader is near.

It would be more accurate to say, "I don't like how this game works" than to call someone a cheater.

Mean - Unfair - Selfish?

Perhaps. But having a 'help all' attitude isnt a requirement for playing the game. Just like looting, KS, monster scrolls or anything else.
