I'm pretty happy right now. We got let out of school at 11am, and we don't have school tomorrow due to our school being overly hot.
We just moved into a new building and they are trying to get the heating levels and stuff right. We'd already gone through yesterday with it 96 degrees on the top floor. Was about 86 degrees in our '6th form' room today. WAY too hot to do any work of any kind.
I'm just happy as I have A LOT of work that needs doing, so hopefully I'll be able to get some done tomorrow. I got half term next week also, so I'm not back in school till next Tuesday (19th).
Whats the weirdest reason you've been let out of / missed school for?

Move to Africa soda OT: weirdest reason for being let out of school early: Fake Stabbing.

no fair, where i live there was a lock down with a bomb threat at a near by school and they made us stay in the room and watch kiddie movies >=( dont ask what movie >=((((
Back in high school everyone had to evacuate out to the football field during lunch period because of a bomb threat. We all ended up spending the whole day outside and eventually we had to head home without any of our stuff or trips to the bathroom lol. I guess they were looking for it the whole time. People were pretty pissed off.

wierdest: bomb threat, some kid wrote a bomb threat on a bathroom wall and the administrators went spastick
lol sophomore year, this kid put a death threat on one of the most hated teachers desk, saying: "I'm going to bomb your [he was jewish so place a slur for jewish person here] ass, bitch" ~ some people really don't take failing a class well. Eventually like your criminal he wrote in the boys bathroom, "your ass is grass [slur here] friday afternoon, [teacher's name]"
The teacher was absent for an entire week, subs for an entire week -_-' nothing but busy work: Uber-Ghey. 86% of the school was absent because they thought they we're going to die.
In my city the school administration was really really anal about letting us leave early or closing school for the day. Snow days were pretty hard to get... and Im sure some of you in the US might have heard about a student calling the school board and getting a return call that was pretty nasty.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNfJA0Q80bA
But back on topic, we were expecting a nor'easter (some kind of bad storm thingy) and they closed school for the next day. The storm totally went in the opposite direction and we had a perfectly sunny day and no school! That was so great... man I miss school >.> lol.

Let's see. I guess now the most common reason for us not going to school would be floods. lol
The weirdest reason for the school being closed, would probably have to be the Chlorine Gas leak we had a year back. There was a malfunction with the pool system, and it was letting out a LOT of Chlorine gas. People began getting red eyes, sore thoughts, hard breathing, metal taste in the mouth. The ones closest to the pool is the Drama department, so they pulled the alarm. After that we were all moved to the fire gather point, after being told it wasn't a fire, we moved to the "bomb or other" gather point. It was at that time that we were told exactly what was happening. Funny thing is that when we were all evacuated we were told to go and grab our things, i was having Geography at the time, and that is quite close to the pool. By the time that we went to grab out stuff, the gas had already diffused into the Humanities building. So whilst we walked in there, we were coughing, choking, red eyes, tearing, hard breathing. One of the girls has this HUGE panic attack, she wouldnt go in the room, we had to get her stuff for her. but meh... So yeah, that would be the weirdest reason i guess.
Other reasons: Bomb Threat Riots (1998 Riots for any of you who know Indonesian History) Road Blocks.
One of my favorite school days, would have to be one where pretty much the entire student body was there, but for some reason, in the secondary school only, a huge portion of the teaching staff was a no show, it was fun, free, mayhem, no work, messing around, for like the entire day. XD

about 40% at our school. I went, cause you had to be an idiot not to know that the bomb threat was just a joke
There was a latino gang in our school graffiti-ing everywhere - in the bathrooms, in the classrooms, on desks. They shut the school down for a day so they could review the cameras and figure out who it was. I don't know why they would do that - why not just review the tapes while school's in session? But oh well.
Second semester senior, if I don't feel like going to school I don't get out of bed. If I decide I don't want to go on the drive there I turn around and go somewhere else.
well funniest thing that happen to me was one day, we were on lock down (in our classroom) because someone stole something.. they wouldn't tell us what it was.. WELL.. i asked my teacher and all he said was someone had stole i quote "sexual device" that i guess aren't aloud on campus
I can't remember a time when my school closed early.. The only times I got a day of school is when I decided to take the day off or it was a weekend....
when i was like 8 or 9 someone stuck lit fireworks in the school letterbox and shot the caretaker in the leg with a crappy air rifle. So we didnt have to go in the next day.

BTW how do you fake a stabbing....i mean someone has either been stabbed or they haven't so o0
Random white kid named Joshua Love stabbed himself, and said two black guys jumped him. He forgot to do his english project and thought that if he pretended he got jumped, then they would let him off the hook. He changed his story sooo many times, and the doc said the cut was superficial. You can look it up, when the news thought it was a real stabbing they had it on the front page; then 10 minutes later, the police who were questioning Josh came to the conclusion that he was lying. And then about one hour later, on the PA system they announced the doctor concluded the cuts were superficial, and the angle they entered at could only be self-inflicted. A few days later Josh explains why he did it.
