Irc bouncer server

Post by w00t »

Hi,

I have plans to sell iRC bouncers. I got a server hoster to host me a dedi server. Now I want to try and find out how much clients I can host per server. So if you want a free irc bnc let me know via a pm.

I forgot what is is called, but you need some kind of "trusted status" to run a larger number of BNCs at once... I think it is 3 normally, at least on Quakenet ... and from what I know it is not that easy to get this "status", especially if you just have a simple root server and want to do this for fun...

I'd also have a look into the ToS of your hoster, some hosters forbid to run BNCs and/or Eggdrops ... can't give you any further details, since I am not into IRC stuff anymore and never have been much, all BNCs I had were sponsored from big hosters, I got them from gaming mates (FPS)..

I know there are thrust lists. I know several people who are staff members from the big networks. So dont wont be too much of a problem.

I checked my hoster before I bought this server and it aint a problem.

Thanks for the advice though :)
