Everyone here on SRF is like '' anti-bot '', mainly because people think it spoils the fun and it's unfair for the so called '' legits''.
But when someone makes a topic about giving away his/her acc, we get like 220 replies or so ?
Just sad lol....

than iSRO isn't the good game for you.
either accept the game as it is right now or leave

I did leave to kSRO and cSRO, and now I wish to return and 'accept' it.

what is the connection between botting and giving accs away.
we are anti - bot not only because its "unfair" as you say; but also because it is against the rules. no matter how appealing botting may be its against the rules of the sro world and the rules of srf; why wouldnt we be anti - bot? does us being anti -bot make us somehow bad, does it upset you somehow?
we get replys like that because people like shadow hershy and barotix may not have time 2 play every day or may have gotten a high lvl, then in some twist of fate lost said high lvl. these people may not want 2 start from poitn X to reach point Y so thier only choice is gaining a gift acc.
so what is sad about it? pls explain.

why you think botting is against the rules einstein ? And btw, you accusing me of being a supporter of botting ?

yeah sure, so if someone is playing the game for like 1 year and has a lvl 55 account and some other guy who doesn't feel like lvlin just gets an account thats like lvl 80 after just 1 day of playing, you think that's fair ?
so what is sad about it? pls explain.
read above.

a TOS was signed which clearly stated the use of third party programs such as; bots or softmod are against the rules joymax has laid down. this forum has rules the rules are the law, bot support or appearing to support bots is against the rules. the rules that apply ig such as; not being a botter apply here as well live with it. if you dont like the rules that are enforced at srf, and that SHOULD be inforced in iSRO then plz, take the next exit out.

this same concept applys to pwrlvling, you know what happened then. so dont start it again. there is nothing sad about it, if some1 wants an acc and they can justify thier want, then they will most likely get the acc.

The biggest problem with bots (apart from all the slots they take up) is that they don't play nice like humans play (well most humans anyway :|). Even the ones with KS off are still painful to grind near.
Someone getting a free legit account is not KSing everything in sight and illegally taking up slots on crowded servers.
Wait, what was ur point?

Classic botter justifications.
1. Everyone is doing it doing it so you might as well do it too.
2. Botters support joymax.
3. Botters can turn off KS and dont talk smack when they train so they are nicer than regular players.
You are right about one thing, it takes an unusually steadfast person to be legit. Its harder than it seems and the people who have fallen into botting seem to NEED justification for it. NONE of the above statements are true. Not everyone does it. Botters support the current lack of regulation in iSRO and that's about it. Id rather someone talked smack than botted. Most botters are jerkoff "Im higher level than you are and I didnt work for it so nee nee nee nee boo boo" anways.
How can you compare giving away an account to botting and somehow turning that into a legit being hypocritical? LOL Is it because a botter gets his account for nothing too? HA HA HA Do botters deserve sympathy for having no char of their own now? Awwwww poor botter. LOLOLOL Sorry, it made me lol irl...
I like analogies, so Ill put this one in perspective. A drug dealer trying to convince a naive young man into doing drugs points out that the local preacher takes his poor elderly parents to Canada to buy their medication for 1/5 the price Medicare charges them, which is technically illegal drug use and trafficking.

I'd prefer if they just gave away the items, i just hated pming someone only to have them tell me they the original owner gave away his account...its an awkward moment. Also i don't see any problem with a Legit forum member not wanting all his hard work to go to waste and would rather let someone else benifit from it. Of courses theres no way to tell if the account was botted most of the times so i guess its just a given. You'll know the sro community has really gone to sh*t when ppl start calling out bot support for every action that goes on.....oh wait....

From the Terms of Service Agreement that all players had to agree to:
From the SRO Website Forums, which you agreed to READ, see point 8 above:
From the FAQ Forum:
Still think there is nothing in the SRO Policies that suggest they do not want people to use bots?
Personally, I have never used, nor will I ever use, a bot. It just seems totally rediculous to me ... how is automated play fun?
Nevertheless, I am not personally bothered by the cheater that uses a bot to get his/her character to 80th level in record time. So now, they can PvP with everyone else ... so what? They have missed 90% of the enjoyment of this game.
What bothers me far more is the infestation of SRO by gold bots. These characters do not even belong to players ... they are simply gathering gold for resellers. They interfere with play, take up all available slots, create serious lag, and contribute to hyper-inflation (not to mention KSing and other annoyances). Ultimately, this forces all the players who are racing to level 80 to buy gold in order to purchase practically anything from a stall, thus giving the gold resellers a market, and causing them to create even more gold bots.
It is a viscious cycle, and has divided SRO almost into two games.
Personally, I would like to see a new server where every player had to give legitimate VISA or PayPal information in order to play. Anyone caught advertising illeagal services (like selling gold) would be "fined" (read "charged") $100 for every infraction. Players caught using bots would also be banned, deleted and their IP address and credit card information used to block any further attempt to join the server. Of course, many people have more than one credit card and can access via more than one IP address, but eventually they would have to quit using bots or burn up all their credit cards and/or IP addresses.
Players who do not have access to Credit Cards or PayPal can continue to play on all the existing servers. With the majority of the "legit" players moved off those servers, there might even be more room to log on once in a while.
Of course, a better solution would be an automated method of kicking bot players out of the game, but that would require JOYMAX to make that a priority and create a new client that gave players that feature. An idea could be to allow players the option of "reporting" a bot in game. Players accused of botting have a short time to respond to an image verification message similar to signing on ... if they do so, they are exempt from any further checks for a period (perhaps 30 minutes or an hour). If they do not respond within a short period (perhaps 5 minutes) they are logged off the game, reducing lag and freeing up slots.
Perhaps even better would be that any player who does not respond within 5 minutes gets "Murderer" status, and is now free game for anyone to attack them and kill them. The status is only reset upon paying a fine (100 million gold perhaps?) to the Hunters Guild or by signing off and signing on again through the image verification process.
I personally like this latter idea, because it would not take too long to see all the murderer bots running around, and they could be made to drop some very nice things.
And since I only came up with this idea while I wrote this, I think I will now submit it to the SRO game ideas forum.
Good Luck!

From the SRO Website Forums, which you agreed to READ, see point 8 above:
Hello. This is Silkroad Online.
A patch regarding [ Bot Hacked Client Block ] has been applied in order to create a clean gaming environment.
As this patch has been applied to wipe out bot programs and hacked clients, legitimate users using normal clients will not experience any problems logging on to the game. However, users that use abnormal or hacked clients bot programs may only log on to the game by installing an unaltered normal client that has been newly downloaded.
After the application of this patch, we will wipe out any bot hacked client users.
From the FAQ Forum:
Q. My friend was blocked for no reason. Why was he/she blocked?
A. The reason for blockage is always listed. Once you enter your login information and attempt to login and fail, the reason for the block will be listed in the lower left. The most common reasons listed will be blocks for bot usage [Illegal Program Use] and chargeback related/use of stolen or financially fraudulent activity [Extra Block Related Chargeback].
Q. There have been these sites selling silk and free gold and they have a similar appearance to the official site. What are they?
A. These are phishing sites. Essentially, these sites are set up for the sole purpose of stealing your account information at the least and other non-game related essential data stored on your pc as well. Some may also contain hidden Active X applets as well as other spyware which may install even upon browsing of these sites.
You cannot get silk any other way besides through the official website and certainly not for free. Any mention of pseudo-technical hacking processes these sites mention as being able to circumvent security is completely false. We also highly discourage any attempts to buy or sell gold. Loss of accounts is highly probable.
Q. I want to report a bot user. What should I do?
A. Please submit a bug report to the Customer Service section of the website. Bug reports are received directly by the GM team in Korea. We ask that our users not post bot reports on the forum or send us an email with the bot list, as this takes time away from our other duties. Please understand that this is an effort to maximize our resources and manage our system as efficiently as possible.

i did it to lvl 80 and will never start a 2ed char to go to lvl 80..
no matter how much you bitch about them they are still going to be there... joymax is making money off them and bot makers are making money off them..
nothing is going to change no matter what you say or do..
get over it.. i did.. (untill i pvp a sun botter)

Thanks for the cudos, inh;
Necrobat, the idea would need a few more specifics. For example, bot accusations might not be possible in Safe Zones, might not be applicable to players doing PvP or perhaps even wearing capes, and not applicable to characters with a Job. (Traders on one-star trades might be an exception, so that botters do not just start a trade and then go bot with impunity.)
If a player is activated as a Thief or Hunter, then as a bot, he is subject to attack by the other. A bot as a Trader with 2 or more stars is also a target. Hunting bots would be a full time job of legit players if they were to try to avoid the verification process by wearing a job item.
Also, bots that wear capes could be subject to constant PvP atacks, but as long as a player is not actually engaged in a battle, the bot accusation function could still be used on the character.
Attempting to accuse someone of being a bot when they are in a Safe Zone, when they are engaged in a PvP battle, or when they are on an active Job (except for Traders doing 1-star trades) would result in an "Invalid Target" message. Anyone who has been accused and has already verifired in the last hour would result in "Invalid Target" as well.
Another thing to make it "Fair" might be that if the accusor attempts to accuse someone, and they DO verify, then the accuser is signed off and receives a one-hour ban, or perhaps receives Murderer status until they have signed off and on again. This would prevent people from walking around accusing everyone of being a bot. You would have to look at the pattern of play, or be KSed a few times, or even open a dialouge and get no response before you would use the "Anti-bot Nuclear Device".
At this point, it is just an idea that might well need some fleshing out if it was to be seriously concidered. Even if it does not completely get rid of bots, it would go a long way towards making bots more fun, by turning them into potential targets. Then you can let people bot all they want, knowing that if you can catch them at it, you can kill them (as Murderers) and maybe even get some of their stuff.
Sounds good to me!
Good Luck!

Some players can play, some players benefit from learning to play this game. Either type of player can get to cap lvl, and all it takes is determination to get there. If there were no bots in sro, anyone who got to cap lvl deserves some form of recognition, respect, and congratulations from the sro gaming community. The sad thing is if a legit player gets there, they'll only get disdain, shamed, and calls of "no-life" from the "wider" community (not from this forum btw, mind you).
Anyone can get cap lvl now, and they dont even need to learn much about the game. Thats the really sad thing about sro at the present. Botting activities go unpunished, and it makes playing legit looking like a joke <.<. This game is really fun, and it starts from lvl1 all the way to cap. As you strive to get there, you'll meet other players, make friends, learn from one another, have adventures, have stories together, have fun, winning, loosing, all part of a fun mmorpg.
Your char becomes very valuable and you get a sense of attachment to it.
It is the main reason why legit players either keep their char forever, or give it away to someone who they deem deserves it. I can never see myself selling my char, as I've put in so much effort, had so much fun on it, and the most important of all forged friendships, and memories with it.
So dont ridicule someone for giving their char away. It is sad to see someone leaving this game, but cel-a-vie life has to go on
. It is their wish to see someone else continuing their char, and experiencing what they experience.
