Str Bow Fire vs. Cold
I just started Silkroad about 1 month ago and its an awesome game. I currently have a lvl 21 Str Lightning Glaive. I was kinda getting bored and decided to make an archer. I have be debating whether to choose fire or cold. Ive heard many things about what to pick like cold freezes the enemy so you get some extra hits in and that fire is the strongest and will kill the enemy faster. Also, between the last books of both imbues there is about a 125 dmg difference fire doing more dmg. Another opinion I have heard is that if you are a pvp you want to go with cold, and if you are a pve you want to go with fire, BUT, what if you were in between both pve and pvp fighting both monsters and players and random times. So that is my question. Please comment so I can choose. Also...please dont say lightning...lol.

Everybody has their own oppinion on this, some say cold some say fire. There's a lot more fire users but here's what the two skills come down to..
Fire - More damage oriented, better in pvp.
Cold - Defence oriented, better in pve.
Cold really isn't helpful in pvp assuming the person is using autopill like they should. Most people will disagree with that saying "Oh it'll give you an extra second" well people can still pot through it.
A lot of high level people use fire and say it works a lot better than ice. Like Fly is big pro fire, I hate cold, I think fire is better. It's always going to be like this, untill the caps get raised untill they are maxed. Then we'll see what's going to come out on top.

well i have to disagre...cold is definatly one of the best forces for pvp...i know he doesnt do that great dmg as fire but the slows he do can give u an outstandig advantage over the oponent...besides even with auto pill with 3-4 arrows in a row he will stay frost for a long time ...
PS:the korean pvp champion was a frost archer

let's see about that when fire shield is also mastered by a bow user..
fire shield+all accessories with 22% freeze/frostbite reduction =

Because you're going STR you WILL get the physical damage buffs in the fire tree. I'd go with fire imbue just to save SP, rather stick the SP from the cold tree into lightning for fast run, piercing, concentration and the passive.
SP aside:
On my blader I always keep my fire imbue as high as it will go, but I do carry a level 1 cold imbue just for when cold is really needed, does less damage then if I leveled it but since the damage isn't great with a high level cold imbue and what were going for is the status effect, a level 1 cold imbue will work fine.

But again I go back to autopill for cold, only saves the attacker a couple seconds if even that much.
lol i have other sources that said it was a cold archer that's the current champion
and also that a majority of the builds in korea are hybrids not pure.
ICEEEE
well i still prefer using ice as main skill tree...ok ok u can have a frost proof gear but is really hard to find a full set of it...and ok lets pretend u got one...u wont have the best ekips with the cold proof so u may choose...or a high defense or the ice proof ...very build has ur pros and cons...ok fire has more dmg but ice has more def...fire burns and ice slow...all depend on ur play style...and if fire was so much better the pool wouldnt be almost drawn as it is xD

Well I once had an STR/Ice/Archer (my 1st char)... I got to about level 18 and couldnt stand it anymore! You kill twice as slow as everybody else when grinding, you get owned easily in pvp, and you get KSed by others all the time because you cant kill a giant fast enough. I couldnt take it anymore so I switched to Fire instead, and my grinding speed almost doubled
Personally I would rather take Fire for those reasons, but also because Fire has Physical Attack buffs/passives which will help you out greatly in the long run.

nice but my 2 bros done up to lvl 4X cold archers they are TOTALY USELESS AT PVE even on white monsters also on green too!
and they culdnt killa nuker who was only using thunder had no other nukes. (whom later i hit killed)
so i dont c any point of cold archer apart from early lvl of sp farm mabe later they be good who knows
*later = 6X 7X

That has not been my experience at all. When you PvP with a weak universal pill, then yes, when a higher lvl icer comes around, sure. Come prepared, and the pure str icer will seal his own fate. Auto-pill (at the highest dosage) cancels ice... period. The only remaining effect is cancelling windups. Granted, if the universal pill is not strong enough, then you have a longer delay, as autopot quaffs another pill. That delay can be deadly, especially against a blader (matters less against an archer).
All combat is very situational. What you thought worked one time, may not work the next time. That's why I try to PvP with scarf a lot. I am not saying you're wrong, just that I have never been beaten by an icer (at or near my level) except for an ice blader. And this ice blader beat me with his blader skills, not his ice.
I really really think ice is great.... backup for pure int's not for pure str.
Ice is great physical protection, why would a pure str overcompensate for even more physical protection at the expense of doing what the pure str is already on the short end of doing (damage). And much of the protection is MP-based, something the pure str is short of.
