Chinese Gold Farmers, their situation is deppressing..

Hi everyone, I'm doing a project at school in Business Studies on various markets - as i'm sure you are all aware of, cheating (namely gold buying, botting, powerleveling, acct buying etc.) has become a huge part of online gaming. I'm choosing this 'Virtual Market' because of some interesting points - This 'market' has generated about 900 million USD in the past years, which i find difficult to comprehend..It's also interesting to take a look behind the scenes of websites such as thepowerlvl..These 'chinese gold farmers' work in 12 hour shifts with small living quarters and one day off per week, and earn about 100US per month..Take a look.

Please post your thoughts, and mention anything you feel that may help me in my project..Thanks.

Seen most of em already.

Those are for major games like WoW, L2, etc that don't really have bots.

SRO "goldfarmers" are just bots.

No need to cry for SRO gold farmers.

Cry for the other ones ^^

actual gold farmers are better then the bot ones because there is a person behind the character, still illegal because its gold selling for real monetary value.

it'd be nice to see oh i dunno.. some whitehats develop something to work with Joymax's incompetent and actually stop autonomous character control. heh, dreaming

It's true, nobody (well, maybe 0.0001% of the people) farms gold like crazy without a bot in sro.
No way would there be so many people working 12 hour shifts like that :S

not to flame but you are not a stranger to the online market you could answer some of your own questions by your own experience.

Silkroad online market is one big scam since nearly each item is overpriced and nearly no work done for it most accounts just got botted to 80 and people got bored cause they have 3 or 4 other accounts the same level so why not sell 1 right?
Sosun items provided there are or scammed or found while botting in my opinion not worth any real money at all.
There are so few accounts worth buying compared to the ones that are being provided, while on for example Warcraft you know it has been gained due to hard work and worth your money.

what people are doing on silkroad is pay for the electric/bot/silk bill people lost while going to that level and that is not worth 300 euro.

the conditions in those places are waay better than pretty much any labor camp ever. they have to keep a good temperature and humidity so they dont damage the computers, and they make a lot more than a farmer or shoemaker.

if you meant me, ill tell you now it is a low paying job. I've seen people like these in real life many times, they live on this due to the unemployment rate in China.

Yea I'm supporting the gold farming industry because it gives people pay and jobs, I openly support peoples NEEDS over other peoples WANTS anyday.

getting job not the most easy thing, and in china its alot harder

playing games as a job is really easy, just click all day long and you always have someone around you.. its not the best working place but it does give them the money to live... if the gold selling would stop many would lose place of living

its really sad

but i can see the point of others, buying gold is wrong and it does ruin the game
