An end to CCF'ing?

Recently, with the apperance of several +9 weapons in Tibot, my guildmates and myself have been speaking of ways to improve SRO. My ideas were pretty silly and extensive (Remove Sun so bots can't buy it all. Take out Astral. Etc...), but a friend made a pretty good point. He claimed they should make it so when you buy Silk you must wait 24 hours for your payment to go through before you get the Silk. When I heard this I thought of ways it wouldn't work and I couldn't think of any; you know when your ticket ends, you can live without Res Scrolls for a day, etc... Anyone else believe this has a chance of working if indeed they try it?

Not really, it would be a huge pain in the ass, especially since alot of people buy silk 'spur of the moment' for pvp guild wars etc and would be a HUGE pain. And really it wouldnt stop CCF, I mean all they have to do is take someone elses credit card and charge it. I mean 24hrs aint really going to stop them.

+1.. please tell me HOW it will stop CFF..??

Also when u realized u just ran out of globals.. it will be a pain in the ass to have to wait a day to buy more.

yes but how they know someone elses credit card? and when you do that the credit card company will just cancel the payment and they will get ban right? i mean i never got the idea of ccf.. xD

Well, I think it goes like this. They either get someone elses Credit card or use their own, buy silk pimp items switch them to a different account then get the credit card company to do a charge back on the payment because you didnt 'authorise' it

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. I'm saying that once you buy the Silk there is a waiting period for your account to be credited the Silk. This way people will not be able to call up the credit card company and cancel the payment; if they did that they wouldn't get the silk. The payment must be clear of the credit card company before the account is given the silk so they can't just call and cancel the payment.

And if people buy things "spur of the moment", why not just keep 100 Silk in the account at all times? You can afford anything except tickets with that much and you know when your ticket expires which gives you plenty of time to get more Silk.

However, if someone is dumb enough to take someone else's credit card and try to charge Silk to it, good luck. That's a felony and it wouldn't take long for the police to track you down.

but wait.. this ccfing thing isnt like botting.. i mean why do you care people are doin it? you want them to pay to this stupid company? i say the ccf is realy good and everyone should do it only then joyhax will pay attention to us and maybe do something about it..

Well im not 100% sure. But i know there are sites which you buy credit card info from. Other than that i dont know much about SRO CCF. But still it would be a HUGE pain having this ingame. And keeping lets say 100silk on your acc all the time is a waste of money and also another pain

I guess you're still leveling and haven't started pvping yet. CCFers will always be better than legits. they can ccf to make full +whatever gears, +whatever weapons ect ect,

I believe this would work. and I wouldn't care if I had to wait a day for my silk if all of ccfing was stopped.

How's that a waste? You just said that this person buys things spur of the moment so it would get used eventually, and I don't see it being a hassle either. Just put 100 Silk on the account and forget about it until a rainy day.

An alternative to this would be make anything that uses item mall items untradeable for a day or something like that, then if anyone ccf's w/e they cff'd gets banned with the acc :d.

And something else important, DON'T TELL THE PUBLIC! let the ccfers ccf and get banned with their items, then tell them xP.

Jackals is a much better idea. It sure as heck wont restrict you. and JM would NEVER implement that 24hr period because of the drop in silk sales it would cause. And i know a bit of economics and it sure would DROP sales.

That is another idea. Like I said, it was only a few of us discussing; we couldn't come up with all the good ideas by ourselves.

your missing a few key points..

for example...

-A stolen credit card is used to buy silk, even waiting 24 hours would not matter for the simple fact that a $50 charge does not alert a CC fraud dept.
-Most people dont even realize their CC has been charged until they recieve a statement showing the charges, which are then disputed with the CC company. So most charges are 15-45 days old before they are disputed. If they actually see the unathorized charges...
-If some is using there own card to buy silk, then immedietly dispute the charge.... Well then I would say they are dumb as a box of rocks.

CCF is a fact of life and most CC companies are not sweating a $50 charge... prolly wont even pursue a followup for the charge...

so 24 hour waiting wont do anything but piss people off...

Breaking rules/laws is a thing you never can stop completely there are always people smart enough to break them anyway.

the point is make it at least harder

- new customer of Joymax should have to wait couple days for their silk anyone who want silk items will always make sure he has enough silk on his account to be able to buy stuff on time, and if i was joymax there would be a big alarm bell ringing when mister xdftdpwr at level 70 buys a large amount of silk.

From my looking into it most people use their own credit cards, but just call the company after they get the Silk and stop the payment.

The fact is people have gotten so used to people CCF'ing that we just don't care anymore. CCF'ing is not a fact of life, it is an error in the game and Joymax needs to be looking for ways to stop it, but they aren't. Instead us people who truely care about the game are looking for ways to improve it.

some people actually have the cash to waste especially now in the vacations don`t assume everything is ccf i do believe some even claim to ccf while they just pay their silk but do want to sound "cool" and saying they ccf.

they cant ccf to make a +9. when they chargeback their account would be banned... The addition of the level restrictions stops chargeback ccf so the only thing they could really be doing is stealing money physically and then not caring about charging lots of silk cause they just got the money to pay for it.

.....or they could trade the wep to an account which they botted up to lvl 59, trade the wep over to the lvl 59 char, buy 500 USD of astrals and immortals, slowly work through them til they get +9, trade the wep back, and chargeback the silk on the 59 account. :shock:
