Launcher problems!

Post by Hugegoat »

Hello everyone,

Well then, I'll skip right to the question/problem.

Well, i've not been playing Silkroad for a year and I recently wanted to reinstall it, so I downloaded it from the main site and installed it. Everything went fine up until the point in which I double click the icon and it starts up the launcer. The launcher starts, but immediatley closes and I cant access it any more until I restart my computer.

Help please?

I think this is a common issue when running firewalls and/or anti-virus/anti-spyware programs. Try adding silkroad.exe and sro_client.exe to your firewall/anti-virus exception list, or just disable any protection programs you have running and try again.

My Norton Anti Virus is currently disabled, and im sure I have no other firewall programs running. It doesn't seem to be working :P.

Well I've never encountered such a problem myself. The only 2 reasons I can think of are:
a. Something is blocking the client.
b. The client itself is damaged.
If you're sure you disabled all firewalls and anti-virus/anti-spyware programs you have, try redownloading and reinstalling the game.

I found the solution to my problem.
Windows was blocking it with DEP.
Try this.. Right click my computer, go to properties, advanced, settings, Data Execution Prevention and then either add silkroad manually or check off turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only.
This was also causing me problems with my media player.. thats how I found out about it in the first place

Turn off windows firewall

Start > Control Panel > Security Center > Windows Firewall (Under by the settings) > put it OFF.
<<banned from SRF for proof of botting. -SG>>
