Let's go to the details :

Weapon :
Comparing a mag weapon and a phy weapon, like spear/glaive, sword/blade.
By adding phy power + mag power, u'll realize that the sum power of mag weapon is always higher than a phy weapon (~1.02% higher). This seems to be small but means a lot at high lvl weapon.
Considering max sum power = max phy power + max mag power.
Ex: weapon lvl 85
Spear
sum = 1173 + 2065 = 3238
Glaive
sum = 1291 + 1877 = 3168
Protective gear :
Protective gear follows the same path : garment is better than armor.
Adding sum defense of highest lvl of gear:
Armor : 794 (phy) + 1039 (mag) = 1833 def
Garment : 650 (phy) + 1386 (mag) = 2036 def
Reinforce & Build :
As u all know, reinforce is very important, and it influences other stats a lot.
Considering lvl 90 char:
Str : 376 Str / 109 Int
Int : 109 Str / 376 Int
Balance:
Str: 97%/28% ---> sum = 125%
Int: 52%/96% ---> sum = 148%
See? Int/mag is always better than Str/phy
Note: garment has higher overall reinforce than armor
Now, let's apply reinforce to other stats : (considering all ppl ear garment
Str glaive garment :
Power : 2161 (phy) + 2244 (mag) = 4405
Defense : 1084 (phy) + 1654 (mag) = 2738
Int spear garment :
Power : 1402 (phy) + 3457 (mag) = 4858
Defense : 776 (phy) + 2312 (mag) = 3088
See the difference? For each Str gains 1dmg/1def from reinforce, Int gains ~1.8-2dmg/def from reinforce.
Moreover, garment gives 20% speed bonus and -20% MP consumption....while armor sux
