To Level Imbue or not To...

Post by Golguthar »

This topic has been discussed as a side note on various threads but i would like to have some direct attention to it.

Do you guys think it's worth leveling your Imbue to the MAX? Of course it dependes on your build, but lets stick with the most common build such as Pure Int Nuker or Pure Str.

I belive that lvling your imbue will give you like 15% boost is that correct? And if so is it a good trade off for the SPs you spend on it?

Thanks in advance for your opinions and comments

okay, my build is STR, and yes, i've seen that it's definitely worth it. yea, it may eat more MP to use it, but it will hit harder. that means faster killing, so it's worth it IMO.

well IMHO for full int , is a must to lv up imbue cause the damage is really worth

for e.g with my char hitting Devil blood flower:
1. without imbue -> 20-30 damage :P
2. with imbue -> 300-400 damage

see the diff ? :P

Well i was talking about having only the first level or first few lvls and having it maxed out. Maybe it's something like:
1 lvl : 200 dmg
MAxed : 300 dmg

But i dont have a high lvl char so i wouldnt know, tahts teh kind of difference i'm talking about.

i think what his trying to say is, should he lvl up imbue while training or should he train with lvl 1 river, > lvl 1 nxt > lvl 1 of third one save save save save > then use max lvl 3rd skill? i think that's what his trying to say, if it was me for str i reckon i would just train with lvl 1 river wait wait wait wait till i can use lvl 1 of next book imbue, etc etc, cos the dam mp difference is just too big for we str chars :(

You can't use lvl 1 of the next imbue book until you have maxxed out the level of your current imbue.
Thus you'll need lvl 9 of both imbue if you want the third book of imbue.

i'd rather have them maxed out to the highest while training. yes, the mp cost is higher, but it's worth the extra damage in my eyes. and yea, i'm full str too, but even so, the mana cost was never more than 15-20% of my total MP.

The only reason why you shouldn't max out your imbue is because of the mp cost.

However, what I usually do is max out my imbue @ fire or lightning. Then take either cold or lightning (usually lightning since I'm putting points in for grasswalk anyways) and keep it at book 1 level 1. Later on it will only take 10 curst hearts to remove it, but until you get high enough where the usage of a high mp cost imbue is worth it you can use your secondary lv1 imbue to level up with.

This works especially well with a pure fire str bow. Early on you can use a lv1 cold where cold is a very good imbue, then let it go when fire starts becoming alot better.
