a quick ? about gold/silver tickets

so...i use a 1 day gold/silver ticket
the ticket starts and i grind then i log out for the day
the next day i check on the ticket and the "day meter" is at 0 but the "grind meter" is at whatever i left off at
the next day the ticket is GONE. i asked my buddy and he said that if u continue the ticket within 24 hours, it stays. IS THIS TRUE OR NOT?

also, does it effect SP gain?

The 1-day gold/silver ticket gives you 3 hours of grind time in 24 hours of real time. Any time remaining in the 3 hours will carry over to the next day, but if not used during the next day the time will expire.
