I'm getting a "Failed to intialize NetEngine" error every time I run silkroad. It's a fresh install on Ubuntu using Wine. I've got sro running on Ubuntu before so idk what's wrong.
So far I've
-Changed the compatibility to different Windows versions
-Reinstalled
-Disabled firewall
-Launched from terminal
Every single thread about this seems to have a dead end. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Failed to initialize NetEngine
Well, first off all. Linux can't run SRO right? Maybe the same thing? Or maybe you don't have right client, do you have the newest version? Or maybe it's just because of the new update?

Well, I had it running last year, but there have been a couple big updates. I do have the newest client. Also, I get the error when loading Silkroad.exe, not the client.
Re: Failed to initialize NetEngine
Hmm, well i googled it and some said try to uninstall it completely. Not just reinstall, might work but I'd doubt it =/
EDIT: I'm going to sleep now, hope you fix it. I'll be back tomorrow cya

Re: Failed to initialize NetEngine
Whenever they implemented the new patch and/or silkroad "guard" it stopped working on Linux. I dualboot XP/Linux Mint - derivative of Ubuntu - and it hasn't worked for months for me.

Re: Failed to initialize NetEngine
Fixed the netengine error by using PlayOnLinux with wine 1.2
Now I'm not getting past hackshield which seems to be an even bigger problem as you said equal.
