Seattle Police Confrontation : P
Did the girl in pink think the cop wasn't going to arrest her friend if she got involved? Her friend was resisting arrest and part of me feels like she deserved the punch in the face for getting involved.

Re: Seattle Police Confrontation : P
She was obviously resisting arrest. She is pushing and shoving the officer and of course she's not following orders. As an officer with no back up, he didn't know if this female had a knife. The first thing an officer must do is take control and use force when necessary. Most people just have sympathy because the individual is a female.

Do police in Seattle not carry a taser or pepper spray?

4 hands vs 2 hands, I don't think he had time to ask them to let him pull out his tazer.
As soon as she touches him or interferes with an arrest, he doesn't know what her intentions are or if she's a danger to his safety.
A punch to get her off and into a submissive position is justified in this case.

You can't really pull out pepper spray in that situation. You gotta remember you must have a distance when you spray it or else it's gonna hit you as well. In this case the girls were on him.

All I'm saying is tase the broad in black when she resists. Argue with the one in pink after cuffing and tossing the one in black into the cruiser.

The outcry over this video would be 10 fold if he used a taser on them. The girls would be screaming like crazy and that might provoke other people around to get involved. Lots of people around to use the spray they would def complain about getting misted and would try to take legal action.

Re: Seattle Police Confrontation : P
She deserved it but I think the policeman was a bit wrong too. It seriously doesn't take that long to get that girl in handcuffs, it really did look like he just wanted to feel on here or something. But she was resisting an arrest and the pink girl deserved getting punched.
But from the sounds of the crowds reactions he might get in some trouble, hopefully not much. Those people sound kind of stupid they are yelling at the policeman saying 'WTF' when that girl is clearing resisting getting arrested.

Watched the video on here earlier today, then seen this on News final here in Calgary.
Anchor said the officer was sent back to where ever for more training or something.

Good choice. This could have been prevented if he restrained that girl earlier.

Although it's kinda "oh so sympathetic"
The officer was within his rights to do that. He was outnumbered 2-1, with no backup, and of course they were very very aggravated they could have done anything, so he had to take control of the situation, and force was used.

In the NAACP's eyes, it's a hate crime. Such a sad sad world we live in.
Forget about clearly established, dictated, and well know rules, he did it because he's a racist pig.
Duh.

Re: Seattle Police Confrontation : P
what I don't understand is how so many young people think its cool or ok to mess with the police. Obviously its a way to express their angst, but its immature. You did something wrong, then you pay for it, can't knock that simple fact into these idiots.

Lost my sound today, what are they saying?
The cop needs training in one thing: How to restrain a suspect quickly and efficiently. He wouldn't have had to punch the other girl, perhaps.
But agreed, girls or not, they are resisting and it's 2 on 1, with a LOT of onlookers that seem like they might, er, jump in.

Re: Seattle Police Confrontation : P
After watching the full video, I noticed the size of that road. If she was attempting to j-walk that, then I would agree with the officer in stopping her (he probably decided to arrest her after the way she was acting). Considering the amount of traffic in the area, she would have definitely been obstructing traffic.

Re: Seattle Police Confrontation : P
um, where im from they dont arrest people without first calling for an additional back up squad car. When I accidentally forgot to turn on my lights one night (I was preoccupied and it was a new car so I wasn’t all zen about it yet) I got pulled over by a real overly asshole cop. It is standard procedure here for an officer to take the license of everyone in the vehicle so they can try to find a reason to cause problems. At this point my 6 month pregnant very much showing wife was found to have a bench warrant for a case that was originally dropped because the paperwork was lost. They later found the paper work and dint inform my wife and put a warrant out for her arrest. They call a second car before he even returned to the vehicle.
Comparing my scenerio with the video, there is no reason he didn’t have backup their already. Some procedure wasn’t followed on the officers behalf or there would have been back-up. So what if the person tries to run away while youre waiting for back up. Chase ensues and they get charged for more shit. I think the cop felt too comfortable with the area and tried to approach the situation wrong.also. Why did they have a video camera ready so fast. Do the people of the area know this guy and that he doesn’t operate legit? I think it goes futher than what is visible in the video.
