HAVERHILL — Keni Garcia told police he intended to use the 30,000 bullets they found in his car and home for target practice.
That is hard to believe, the prosecutor at Garcia's arraignment said, because if he were to fire a gun for eight hours a day, it would take weeks for him to use all of it.
Garcia, who allegedly bought thousands of rounds of ammunition and had 10,000 bullets in his car when he was stopped by police Thursday, was ordered held on $500,000 cash bail yesterday.
Attorney Socrates de la Cruz of Lawrence, who represented Garcia, 32, of 12 Freeman St., at his arraignment in Haverhill District Court, said he will appeal the high bail in Superior Court.
Garcia is charged with three counts of possession of a high-capacity firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and illegal storage of a firearm. His case was continued until June 12.

Well the police aren't just going to make something up to arrest him. If storing 10,000 bullets in a car is illegal than your breaking the law and your gonna get arrested.

There are no laws against having ammunition in your car. The only thing he may have done "illegally" is own weapons that require permits in Mass. which he was in the process of getting.

Who knows, he might have bought a few tins of ammo or just went and cleaned out some shops. Then headed home when he got pulled over by the Masshole police.

This is incredibly dumb and if it doesn't get thrown out I will be VERY angry. There is talk of high taxes coming for ammo and the slight possibility that bullets will be laser inscribed and you will be forced sign for them. This would make the ammo prices jump drastically. I see this as a man stocking up on ammo to save money later, but this is just what I see; the true circumstances may be different.
I know people with way more than that, its no secret people are saving ammo now, a lot of the high quality ammo is hard to find and when it does come people buy pallets of it. Not sure how he got in trouble for that. Guess they are stupid enough to assume you only buy what you were going to shoot immediately. 10,000 isnt that much, rather easy, get some basic wolf in 1080 cans.
Stock up now, before the economy completely colapses, and the US becomes a land of people fighting over territory and food... you'll regret not having guns and ammo to defend your family against rioters, looters and scavengers IMO
