There are five areas of skill that can be improved as the player wishes as he or she progresses through the game. These skills are strength, health, intelligence, wisdom, and agility.
The knight characters are male, With the focus on strength and health. Their weapon style is the sword. The Mages are female, focusing on intelligence and wisdom, their weapon style is the staff. The archer class is female, focusing on strength and agility. Their weapon style is the bow and arrow.
There are so far 11 unique armors in which 10 are for the players and 1 is special to the <GM>(GameMaster).
Each class can progress in levels and when reaching level 50 can progress to a new job-type. There are currently 3 job changes. Archers can become Expert Archers or Imperial Commanders. Knights can become Vagabond Swordsman or Commanders, Mages can become Hermits or CJB's(Chaiperson of JoongBaing). Once the player reaches level 70, they are able to finish some more quests in order to obtain the 3rd job change, succeeding the 2nd job change, a Vagabond swordsman becomes God of Sword, a Commander becomes General, a Expert archer becomes God of Bow, a Imperial commander becomes Imperial General, a Hermit becomes an Ascetic, and a CJB will become a Military Advisor. Kal will add a new class Thief in November.
Each class has its own strengths and weaknesses.
A player can customize his character by adding stat and skill points each level up.
To achieve a level up, the player needs to kill monsters, and complete quests, given by NPCs (non playing characters)
There are also Animal Eggs which players can hatch into a animal which gives the player's character more points (Agility,Strength,Intelligence, wisdom and health) and a better running speed.
Each animal has its own unique skills and status points it delivers to the player.
The types of Animals are: Tiger, good for a knight, Panther, good for a archer and a Bird, good for a mage, Eagle, good for Thief.
The game currently has 3 server Hanin, Naraeha, and Bango.
Six main towns currently make up the basis of the kalonline map.
These towns go as follows; -Narootuh - The starting town, it has all basic npc's needed for the first 30 levels of the character. -Jook-suh Cargo Station - Mainly a quest town with most of the npc's being used in the kalonline quests. -Guem-oh Mine - A stronghold for questing and in the middle of a large range of mobs. -Pub of Giant Bird - Used from level 50+ for the 3rd jobchange and the 50+ quests, also provides a nice spot in the middle of lots of monsters. -Tempory fort of Guem oh Castle - The main town, which has almost every npc for the average player and many many shops set up here. -City of Priest - High level area, most shops here are for high levels only, same npc's as tempory fort except npc's more spread out.

Gameplay
Kal Online is a good game, but sometimes a bit boring. The fun starts at Level 50. If you are totally new to Kal, and you don't have a good weapon/armor(G40, G42), you will have a very hard time. The leveling is hard after Lv30, and even harder after 50. Getting money is also hard. Maybe you are lucky, and you will get a good drop...
Graphics
Kal has a very good graphics. You don't need an 5000$ computer to max all settings. Just make sure you put Bloom effect on.
Sound
The background music is a shit. You need to mute it (otherwise you will get a headache after a while xD), and play some music. Other things (skills, etc.) has good sound.
