Just a slight error with the way data is parsed. None of the characters who have one letter for their names exist. It is not possible to create such a character as that protection is added both client side as well as server side

I may have confused myself with definitions, but I disagree with the statement. In my opinion an object/person/organization/etc is considered "unreliable" when they have repeatedly tripped over and made mistakes, or when they always seem to have errors. Rev6 data is perfectly fine most of the time. But things change, new skills/items/etc get added to the game and some of this tends to mess up the packet structure sometimes. Nedra(NyMble) has done a great job so far of keeping the whole site as updated as he can. Bugs related to site are fixed almost as soon as they are encountered.

Rev6 is not unreliable. I think you should point your finger the other way, towards a certain company that fixes bugs once in a blue moon ^^

Exploitation of bugs can have both a good and bad effect. Bad effect obviously being that everyone would know about it. Good being the fact that it also makes the people being exploited aware and thus making them fix it so that it doesn't happen.

Whats better? Having an exploit that people make use of in secret and keep on repeating it causing confusion and damage OR bringing about the attention of the public towards the matter and giving them methods as to protect themselves or take precautions in the future?

Are you really serious? Do you really think Joymax will suddenly stop all their work, pop up a halo around their heads and declare angelic justice over everyone involved if such a thing happened? Despite all the bugs, despite all the traffic, despite all the obstacles, players will not quit a game that they love and are addicted to, so quickly.

Joymax's actions have proven numerously in the past and present that they don't fix something unless there's a visible public outcry for it.

1) Honor buff exploit and Multi Wolf spawn exploit, both of them have existed for more than a year. Honor buff exploit has been abused to its limits by some people (using it to dc other players + being better than anyone else in strength/attack/defense). Joymax only fixed it after it was repeatedly used to dc people from the game(props to the guy on babel who lost his billions :/ )

2) [GM]Gargamel obviously did not know what a certain community was when he wore a shirt with their logo on it. The player who offered this shirt was banned shortly for "bot advertisement". This is just a small example of how well they know their own community.

3) If you took the liberty to check Silkroad FAQ, you would realize it has not been updated for a while . This shows how much Joymax keeps their content updated and how well they like to keep their player base informed about the game.

Yes we don't help when we keep a serverlist updated for isro, to show people when server is free and when a slot is available and how much chance a person has for getting in at that particular time.
Yes we don't help when we publish details of "errors" on joymax bot ban list.
Yes we don't help when we keep users updated on the bugs related to the game and hence preventing a lot of potentially harmful "could be's" from happening

Sure. But do you realize that is not all that can be published? Since its the raw packets that are being parsed, we could easily publish the exact co-ordinate of a thief/trader/hunter, or post the location the of where a unique has spawned. You should think more about what rev6 can post and doesn't rather than what rev6 does post.

I can understand how frustrated you must be, not being able to enjoy the game to full potential. But please try to understand that I'm not here to be the "voice of reason" for rev6, as of now I'm here just like you, as a normal silkroad fan in the most active silkroad forum around. I have intentionally skipped over the "bot and the clientless part" because its not my intention in anyway to discuss it here in a forum especially for legit players. I'm just expressing my opinion here about "Publishing exploits", that is all.

It is very noble to see such a forum exist, with such a large base of active posters who are legit ^^
So let us be civil and end this discussion right here and not let this thread end up like just another classic flame thread . I shall not judge you by a single thread alone, I respect you for voicing your own opinion in the matter and you have every right to believe what you think is right

Eh, if your guild had the fort .. and let's just say rev6 never posted the warning. High probability that 1 idiot from the attacking guild knows about the exploit or knows someone who knows about it and would have abused it. You would be happily sitting at the main gate wondering where all the resistance went .. to suddenly see prompts of all your obstacles being destroyed. Not fun eh?

I for one am thankfull rev6 post exploits so I know how to prevent them from being used AGAINST me.
