Re: Blind person from birth
He can call himself lucky for being born blind, instead of having experienced how it feels to see and then become blind.
Ofcourse he isn't that lucky afterall: he's still blind

Re: Blind person from birth
You can still dream. Its not like you physically "see" what you dream, dreams are just interpretations of our sub-conscious. Though with that said if he cant see he wouldn't be able to produce images in his sub-conscious...
Maybe he just hears sounds?
good thread is good.

Most likely they dream of real feelings, pain, relaxation as in when getting a massage, dizziness, or feelings like those you have in a rollercoaster/airplane.
I don't know if everything in their dreams remains black though, or whatever "colour" it is they normally see.

Even if they cant see colour, but they can feel the shape of an object (with hands), no? So using imagination, they can construct their own world in black and white?

You don't need eyes to dream, all you need is imagination.

Correct.
He might not dream about physical things we might encounter on a daily basis, perhaps he just dreams about various shapes and sizes, or about objects his imagination created from hearing sounds.

I've been totally blind since birth. I don't see in my dreams, but I know what's happening in them the same way as I know what's happening around me when I'm awake. Through my other senses.
If you mean the physical appearence of someone then I can tell how tall they are, or how big/small they are by listening to them and. I concentrate a lot more on what a person is like though instead of what they look like. Looks doesn't matter. It's what the person is like on the inside that really counts.
Of course when you get close enough to someone you come into contact with their bodies and can tell a lot more about how they look by touching them. They can also describe how they look or someone else can.

Re: Blind person from birth
When a mental image is formed, it is not just the eyes that played a part in the construction of the image. The other senses play a part as well. They play a much stronger role in a blind person.
When a normal person with sight draws, they rely mostly on what the image looked like to draw the image.
When a blind person draws, they recall what the object felt like, etc., stimulating their visual cortex allowing them to draw.
Take Esref Armagan for example. He has been blind from birth. These are a few paintings by him.

I'm pretty he has visual dreams.
Don't you salivate a bit more just by imagining something delicious you would like to eat and can practically taste it? Don't you smell it even though it is not there for you to smell? Have you tried tasting food without being able to smell it?
My point is, one sense does not do all the work and in most cases, multiple senses are needed to perceive something.
