I've been following McCain since like 2004, i'm sure lots of you have seen my avatar on DA I had for like 3 years with his face on it.

I like his platform, or atleast I liked it. I'm afraid that the party is going to push him too much into becoming the fundamental evangelical christian that the country does not need right now. If he can stay away from that course, and keep the liberalish touch he had pre-elections then I think he would do a great job.

I like how he was a prisoner of war, and he showed his true colours when he refused to come home without the rest of the inmates. I like how he was supposed to go home after the forrestal fire accident, but volunteered to go back and serve on another ship - only to be shot down and spend the aforementioned years in prison.

The most pressing issue for America is the war in Iraq, because all other issues are rooted in that conflict. He has the psychological baggage, the first hand experience, and gained compassion from being tortured for so many years to do a good job and make good decisions regarding the war.

I like him, I like his ideas, and I like his track record. Americans can't vote for "change". Looking solely for a fresh breeze is ignorant, and it's the attitude that landed Bush in office in the first place. Americans need to become more aware of national and international political affairs. If you like Obama's platform then so be it, but if you're voting for him just because McCain is white and old, then you really need to reflect on your responsibilities as a voter - get informed and make a decision based on what you know is best.

Code: Select all

Edit: Im sure u can find issues (minor ones like in the linked video also) for obama but if we are looking for experience, mccain has a serious problem with the economy which he can never admit.

The thing i hate is the surge, which McCain and other Republicans try to use against Obama. The surge was a success in terms of bringing down the violence "back to extreme levels" from very extreme levels. I just find that funny. And the whole point of the surge was to bring political colinciation, not cheifly to bring down the violence.

So where does McCain's experience excel when compared to Obama? IS it the "experience" of being tortured?

O, and dont forget this is the same McCain whose campaigned launched an add today (or few days ago :? ) critisizing obama on his popularity (lol) and comparing him to hilton and spears...i mean wtf?

@ the video
those kind of things are everywhere, they really dont prove much. In every election the candidate talk trash about each other, candidates hire people just to dig up dirt about the opponent. I am sure there are same kind of video of obama all over the internet. I am in no way supporting mccain (COOKIES AND CAKE!) but we are all human, and we make mistakes

having a track record as a war hero doesn't mean that he is going to be a good president. I'm sure almost everyone disagrees with the war in iraq, he wants to stay in it for 100 years. That is ridiculous, you don't understand how much money is going into iraq everyday..

And, we NEED change, and as a country we need to take another risk. America has always been on the front paving the road for other countries. Now we are slowing down, China and india is starting to follow our footsteps.

We need to begin trailblazing again in a new direction so that we will stay ahead of everyone and continue to maintain our superpower status and continue to maintain our economy.

The problem with low-income, "traditional home families", and uneducated americans (people who tend to like the GOP), is that they think america will continue to prosper and that they can ride the high tide without going to college. They are afraid of change because they are afraid to admit that the world is changing for the worse for these low-income people. They want to continue to believe that America will be prosperous forever without doing anything, as it was in the 1980s and 1990s.

$4/gallon gas might hurt in the beginning, but in the long run it will force America to look for alternative energy and make us better off in the future.

Mccain still believes in a 1980s, 1990s world where america can just control the world with a pea-shooter. No, not now with china, india, russia running after us with AK-47s.

I explained why we need someone like obama, even though he isn't the best we have. Now, tell me, what is so great about mccain besides his glorious patriotism? Will you really be willing to follow mccain for 100 years in iraq? For the past 8 years, we wasted our time and money with a nimrod, I don't see much difference with Mccain's policy, now when foreign policy is so important.

i agree with most of what u said jstar :) , but not on ur idea that china and india are "following our footsteps". the only thing they are following our footsteps in is the economy and the process of major industrialization. socially and politically they are not even close.

McCain believes that the USA's economy is perfect and does not need any altering. He is just like Bush and will make gas prices higher for us. The war will not end any time soon if he is elected president.
Obama wants the opposite of our current economy. He also wants to end the war aswell.
Code: Select all
So who would you vote for?
McCain-Continue spending $720 Million Dollars a day. Higher Gas prices. Continue ruining the the dollars strength.
or
Obama-Wants to stop the war and stop wasting $720 million dollars a day. Will fix the gas company loop holes that monopolize the gas prices. And possibly fix how our current dollar does NOT have 1 dollar worth of gold behind it which is making the dollar worthless.
