Bleach, What happens to people when they die in Soul Society

OK, I have just started to watch Bleach (although in my opinion I like Naruto better. NO JUDGING OR CRITIZISING ME ITS MY OPINION SO NO1 EVERSAY ANYTHING LIKE "ah naruto sucks, bleach is better, etc.").

Bleach seems to me a very good anime and all but I hate t think that Ichigo is like the only "good" soul reaper. The other Shinigamis are like evil people man. Their ways are SO CRUEL and to think they manage our lives like gods.

Anyway my question is... what happens to people when they die in Soul Society? For example, Rukia's & Renji's friends. In an episode they were in a cliff and they wanted to become Shinigami because their town stinks and their friends died (behind them there's the 3 grave stick... err... whatever). So if Soul Society is like "Heaven" were people go after passing on (and they are souls) meaning they ARE already dead. How can they die AGAIN? What happens? Do they go to another Society or something?

It has been stated in the series multiple times that when a spirit dies, they're reborn in the human world, thus continuing the cycle.

Human world -> Soul Society -> Human world
