major pain in the ass for no reason at all, took me like 2 months to actually figure out/ bother to do it.

Well we have only had the new regulations for less then a month. And it also takes care of spambots.

Oh but theres so many reasons!
1. It slows the process of remake accounts. People would get banned, register a new account, and post some flame bullshit 10 minutes later.
2. The 24 hour grace period, new posting requirements, and posting limits (IE postcount required to start topics, etc) make it a real pain in the ass to troll the board.
3. It stops spambots dead.
