More mods?

There's times when the mods disappear for all of the day, except maybe 3-4 hours and all hell breaks loose.. everywhere.
Insane flame topics go for days then finally get locked when a mod notices. It just gets out of control sometimes.
I've suggested it before, and as have a few others.. get a few more mods to help out?
The mods here do a wonderful job, but sometimes there's a need for 2-3 more mods.
Just a suggestion.

Well i'm homeschooled, and some of my classes are at an online school, so i'm browsing SRF almost all day long lol. I see a lot, and it's getting kinda old
What's worse though, are the people to REPLY to stupid threads.
We need mods from a few different timezones

Patience, SG will hire more mods if he decides it is necessary, I guess he doesn't believe it's needed at the moment.

Might as well suggest it, since i'm not the only one who has thought or talked about it.

Well to add to your suggestion, my suggestion:
The old mods (really old ones, er... one? Key-J) and some of the 'old' mods (the ones around for 2 months I think?) are global mods. The new mods can be divided into sectional mods to specific forum mods and they get tested out there, and the experienced moderators can then relax a little and only fill in the holes section/forum mods miss and such.
One more thing: maybe change the name to 'Moderator' instead of 'Mod'? Seems more official.

Right now is a good example of why we need more mods:
the forums are being flooded with threads that ask questions that have already been answered or stated in another thread
There are also people making topics and then admitting to doing it just for spam
but not a single mod to be found ><

What about imposition of the banhammer?
Its been said.
But I also disagree to its use against new users.
Purely because of the fact that they're new.

People will see it as favoritism since we hit the blahblah
Problem is, staff needs more convenient ways to take care of such things.
Much hassle to delete/edit/lock each spam post, copy username and IP and have it banned.
Slow and painful process.

Understandable, tatz te reason Itonami and others had asked for more mods, based on timezones

I've never been on a forum where every member followed every rule, it's like an utopia, not possible, but we can hope.

We can have 100 more mods but if users don't want to play nice and follow the rules, the forum is still a mess. Believe me, we try xD

i understand some wont but its the ones baiting the rule breakers or replying to spam bots (which does attract them back) and such which i was aiming that statment towards and like milly said if people dont read nor respect the rules 10000000 mods wont make a difference

I know you guys try, I just think a few more helpers would be nice so certain ito's can get a little Millywhip time.
I mean..
<.<
We need more mods so that your guild/union can continue to be Milly-Whipped. Pfft.. I want none of it for myself.
Duh.

ok guys.
one of the reasons not all mods could be around every section all the time
was the fact that some of the mods only controlled the section assigned to
them. therefor, we chose the option to make all mods
global mods, which
should solve the problem (at least for now

). we are aware of the fact
that the forum keeps growing and the spambots keep on coming back in
larger numbers, but we will not assign new mods until we really need them.
congratulations to reK, greecemilly, Zypher and Karlos Vandango on
becoming global mods
