Spoiler!
Greetings SRFers!
Over the past several weeks, my inbox has been positively flooded with requests for people's forum names to be changed. There have been a variety of reasons for the requests, ranging from a desire to display guild affiliation to security issues. As a result, I have decided that a set of rules governing name changes needs to be established.
Your forum name is your identity here. People see your name and instantly associate it with you, your personality, and your reputation here on SRF. Changing it removes that association, at least for a while until other members start to reassociate your new name with you. Your post count will stay, but no one will have any idea who you are. You will again be seen as a newcomer, even as an Elite Member.
It would be like getting drastic facial reconstructive surgery and then walking into a party surrounded by your old friends and having no one recognize you, or perhaps even believe you are who you say you are.
As a result, I highly recommend against changing your forum name, and from now on it will only be done under certain approved circumstances.
APPROVED REASONS FOR SRF NAME CHANGES:
Thanks for your understanding, and I hope this streamlines this process for the future.

APPROVED REASONS FOR SRF NAME CHANGES:
- Guild Identity: Many users have desired a guild prefix to be added to their names to show that they belong to a particular guild or clan. This is perfectly acceptable because the person's original forum name is still prominently displayed. (Removing a guild prefix is also an acceptable reason for a name change.) ex. SuicideGrl -> [BH]SuicideGrl
- Account Security: If your forum name is the same as your IGN, login name, etc. and displaying it poses a security risk for your account, you may change it after verifying that information.
- Misuse or Abuse: If your forum name is inappropriate, NSFW (not safe for work), or violates one of the Forum Rules or 5 WAYS, it will be changed at the admin's discretion (assuming the offense wasn't ban-worthy).
- Mistakes or Misspellings: If you simply typed your forum name in wrong when you were signing up for SRF, this can be easily fixed. Simply provide the proper spelling of the name you desired and it will be altered for you.
Thanks for your understanding, and I hope this streamlines this process for the future.
