I have never seen this error before.

Only "Too many connections".

Understand, this forum shares a dedicated server with a few other forums.

Therefore, pretty mysql intensive sometimes.

Before we dig into it, wait until the server move, death.

This may clear up the issue.

Maybe considering to a new forum software like VBulletin. It's only $160.00 each owned license meaning you get to keep it forever and ever and ever for unlimited time and you get one year of free updates. I haven't seen any errors from the other forums I go to but if they do its usually moving to a new server.

If you can get the members to donate then It'd be the perfect switch. :D

Wouldn't make any difference what so ever. It would still use a MySql or PostgreSQL database. PHPbb is open source, and generally opensource programs/scripts are very efficient. So, changing forum system would do VERY little.
