TheHelper.net

The server on TheHelper.net had a hard drive failure.
We recieved a letter from the administration there. The data and the site is gone.
We have a backup of the site. I just finished uploading it.
.....Expect a huge rollback.
Most of the site will be restored, but the posts from 3 months will probobly be not.
The reason this site isnt backed up more, is because its several GIGS even when compressed. Most attempts to download the backup of the root end in discon or time out, due to its size.
Backing up all of SRF is a 5 minute deal, and much easier.
A week before this happened (the irony) there was TWO attempts to download the site, both of which were partial.
I have uploaded the backup from January to SRF. Its about 1.3g compressed, so it took some time and 3 attempts.
Now that its done, Logical will be helping restore the site ASAP before it affects search engines and users too badly.
This also applies to all subdomains, including my site, Warcraft III tutorials and the map server there.
SRF is on a new, dedicated server that TheHelper owns, so we are OK and will not be affected.
We are not abandoning thehelper.net. We will restore its state, with all files and features. Posts will be lost - yes. But over time, the great community there will continue to live on.
