Slow approval on screenshots?

Just wondering what's up..
THey used to be approved within a couple hours, now it's not uncommon to see the same ones for days, and then all of a sudden about 2 new pages worth.

Is approval really necessary though?
A lot of screenshots, well.. just.. suck and are just a waste of space.
I've even seen screenshots in there of shit that isn't even sro!
And besides if someone uploaded pr0n or something I'm sure it would be reported and delted quickly, and the uploader taken care of.
